“Great place to stay, but I wish I’d known the “kitchenette” wasn’t set up to prepare food at all, as I would have brought what I needed from home. There was a full-sized fridge and microwave, as well as dishes and utensils as advertised, but only the coffee mugs were microwave safe (the rest of the dishes were plastic - not the kind that even claims to be microwave safe), and there weren’t any cooking implements. No larger bowls or spoons, not even a can opener. Otherwise, the place was……

“The place was clean! A bright, simple room, one queen bed, a window to the street, bathrooms close by across the hall. There's a roomy kitchen-living-relaxing space, fridges, free tea and coffee (the manager, John, makes a pot in the morning.) The location was excellent--right on the corner of Bastion and Commercial street, giving you walkable access to all the main attractions of Nanaimo. You can tell the place is cared for--houseplants are watered, no dying philodendrons malingering in the……

“I showed up and the staff all seemed hungover and disorganized. My room wasn’t ready. They couldn’t check me in cause the computer died. They tried to check me in anyway. They showed me my bunk and my linens weren’t clean. They all seemed like kind people. But the vibe was wack. I am not sure why the reviews are so good. Go find yourself a campground.”
