  • The Gem Theatre (previously known as Kinema Theatre, Hub Theatre) was built in 1909. In 1924, one of the reels of film got stuck in the projector and caught fire, igniting a full reel in the lower magazine. Only the outer shell of the theater survived the fire. The Kinema was rebuilt "as near fireproof as possible" and reopened in 1924. The Kinema Theatre was renamed the Hub Theatre in 1928. In 1933, the theatre was renovated and renamed it the Gem Theatre. After the advent of television, the theater could not attract large enough crowds to pay film rental fees. The Gem Theatre closed about 1986. The title of the last movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, remained on the marquee for ten years as the theater sat idle. Sometime after this the theater was again damaged by fire. Mark Childs, owner of Childs Construction, and his wife Heather, a retired dancer, purchased the Gem Theatre in April 2010, after moving to Panguitch from Henderson, Nevada.  After replacing the building's fire-damaged roof, the Childs rebuilt the Gem Theatre's interior and reopened it on 28 May 2011. #OnTheRoad

Absolutely loved this apartment. It’s close to hiking trails and the best breakfast spot is directly below the apartment. The town has the perfect small town charm.

The place was perfect. A lot larger than I expected. Clean and beautiful. It was the perfect location for going to the national parks. Would recommend to friends and family.

My buddy and I were looking to go on a hiking trip and decided Panguitch would be a great middle point for Bryce and Zion NPs, Cedar Breaks NM and, to an extent, Capitol Reef NP as well as many state parks. This location and price were great for what we needed and included bonuses like proximity to The Flying Goat and Henrie's Drive-In. The hosts were very communicative and kind. The bedrooms were comfortable, wi-fi strong, kitchen and bathroom well-stocked, and access was simple. Check-in and out were very reasonable processes and the hosts answered any questions I had ensuring smooth transitions.Negatives were very few but want to share my thoughts: Laundry is coin-operated/have to pay (total 4/load), the second bedroom has a door to the outside hallway right next to the public laundry which could be a concern for families, and the traffic on the highway dies down a bit but does continue through the night and can be very audible in the main bedroom. Thankfully, earplugs and white noise machines are provided by the hosts.Overall, this was a great experience!
