Worst Experience Ever with VRBO

I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO RENT FROM THIS HOST. The problems began when the check-in link did not work and the host didn't respond to our request for instructions. When we arrived we tried calling, texting and messaging but didn't get a response. We were left on the side of the street with our luggage and two kids and no response. We spent all day lugging all our kids and bags around Paris, trying to make the events we had planned. Hours later, when we got into the flat it had not been cleaned since the last guests had left. Again the host was unresponsive. We ended up staying in a hotel. The host refused to refund our money. Unfortunately VRBO support was no help. Their agent told us he would book us another property, so we left the filthy flat, then they told us they couldn't help us because we hadn't taken a photo of the filth. Worse we had forfeited our protections by leaving the apartment. An hour on the phone and they never once mentioned the need for a photo until after we left. Then they said their was nothing they could do. We were out all our money and had nowhere to stay. I have used VRBO for over 10 years because I thought it offered protection from scammers. It doesn't. VRBO says it is between you and the host. No investigation, NADA. Why do we pay VRBO? Worse yet, there is no way to petition the phone agent's decision. If they don't fully understand the situation, there is no way to appeal to a higher authority. Beware, don't have your vacation ruined!

Arrivée difficile avec la propriétaire: porte de la toilette qui était barré de l’intérieur, propriétaire a été difficile à mobiliser. Cuisine peu équipée mais fonctionnel. Appartement dans un quartier intéressant mais qui donne directement sur la rue avec une fenêtre couverte d’une pellicule opaque, aucune vue possible.
