We loved having two good-sized, separate bedrooms. The shower was great, with good pressure and lots of hot water. Communication with the host was easy and quick. The location is a walkable distance from 2 Metro stations (Republique, Goncourt). The Canal Saint-Martin area felt safe and lively. On Sunday there was a small pop-up market on Rue Alibert, where we bought fruit and patisseries. Later that day we discovered a larger street market near Republique, with clothing, jewelry, and misc items. There are many options for food and meals at all price points. We had booked a canal tour which conveniently departed just a short distance from here. The check in process was clearly explained with written instructions. The key is in a lock box, which is inside a large mailbox, but at the very back. It was tricky to reach. Apartment is at street level - no stairs to climb! - but this means pedestrians walking past the front windows and door. There are also some cafes/bars on the street, so it could be a bit noisy, even into the evening. We made use of the washing machine/dryer. Clothes were mostly dry, but we used the drying rack overnight as well. Small issues: No hairdryer. No info how to use washer, the heaters in the rooms, or the check out process. Would appreciate suggestions from the host on what's in the area, local restaurants, markets, etc. The sofa bed wasn't closed properly, made sitting on the sofa uncomfortable. Main room is dark, dim lighting
