Comfortable apartment, great location

Spacious, comfortable apartment is in great location for exploring the Marais and all of Paris. Boulangeries, cafes, restaurants, market and metro just a short walk. We loved it!

Apartment was a construction site

Noisy, poor kitchen appliances, ridiculously hard to check in, pathetic heating, even though we stayed four days, the owners left us two minute cakes of soap, no dishwashing detergent, no washing machine detergent, ONE Nespresso capsule, no info on how to dispose of garbage, no bread knife, no complimentary salt, pepper, water.

Edge of Marais

Nice apartment close to lively bars and restaurants, convenient to Metro. Only drawback is that on weekend nights the street is noisy. In the summer, with windows open, this can be disruptive. Overall a lovely unit in a beautiful old building.

Some issues

Although location was good, we had issues with the property. The manager told us every day someone would be there to fix, no one ever came. We spend the week with outlets that didn’t work, lighting that didn’t work and limited supplies. Cute unit on busy corner (lot of noise, which was fine).

Confusing Communication with Listing Management Agency

Everything about the apartment was great excepting how the management agent has chosen to use layers and layers of communications (via Text, Email, WhatsApp) that causes huge amounts of confusion when checking in. If you, like us, were booking multiple properties over a period of time (back-to-backs), the communications can easily become lost. Please - use the VRBO messaging service rather than WhatsApp for centralized communication. The service, additionally, had pointed us to multiple individuals for check-in, check-out and ongoing communication; this was an error on their part. To the owner of this property, I would suggest finding another management company that better systems and coordination.

Security deposit

This apartment is close to restaurants, stores, and the metro. Two of the three beds are comfortable, and the kitchen has what you need. The apartment is on the street, and the noise goes on until 2:00AM, then starts up around 6:30AM. There’s no air conditioning, not uncommon in Europe, so we had the windows open. For light sleepers, it might be hard to sleep with the street noise. The small futon is hard, and our teenaged grandson said it was like sleeping on the floor. The WiFi went out for almost three days. Although someone was always “working on it” and “getting back“ to us, it still was not working when we checked out. The biggest issue we had was in making our on line secure deposit. We tried three credit cards and an ATM card, and none of them would go through. The apartment owner referred us to the company that manages the deposits, saying if the deposit wasn’t paid, they could not give us the apartment. The security company referred us back to the apartment owner, saying simply sometimes American credit cards do not work. Neither side offered a solution, but just pointed to the other, with us in limbo. We were concerned we would lose the thousands of dollars we had spent on this rental, and ended up calling Holidays Discovery, the parent company. They were able to help us make the deposit. This took considerable time to resolve and was very frustrating. After the trip, we received a refund of our deposit only upon request.
