The "Meltemi" house - Traditional and Contemporary!

The “Meltemi” house is a century-old house in the center of the village of Naoussa. The ground floor was a lime paint factory and the whole village was whitewashed each year by the owner of the house. Later in the 1970s, two avant-garde women turned the house into a bar. It was named “Meltemi” meaning in Greek “northern wind” because Naoussa is located in the north of the island and swept by the gentle breeze of the “Meltemi” in August.

The years passed and the bar became an art gallery and than became a home again.

We have kept the original features of the old house, preserved the arch and the stone walls in the ground floor as to create a central living room in the house. The accommodation of the terrace gives a new dimension to this old building, more contemporary, and offers a panoramic view of Naoussa. The location of the house in the village is ideal, in a typical neighborhood, and offers visitors to live like the inhabitants of Naoussa.

The house consists of a living room, a dining room and a bathroom on the ground floor. Three bedrooms and a bath room on the first floor (two bedrooms with a double bed each and a bedroom with two single beds). A small wooden staircase leads to the terrace with its magnificent view of Naoussa Bay!

You will appreciate the traditional and yet contemporary character of the house. It is traditional with its magnificent stone arch in the ground floor as it was built years ago in Paros, its floor of large gray and green slabs cut by hand, Its old fireplace that used to be a kitchen, Its bathrooms entirely covered with traditional natural plaster, the “tsimentokonia”, a kind of polished concrete used in the islands made from sea sand and white cement. And it is yet contemporary with its new terrace offering a magnificent view over the whole village of Naoussa and its bay. It is also well and fully equipped with facilities like a washing machine, a dishwasher, an internet Wi-Fi connexion , an espresso machine, etc.

At the “Meltemi” house you will enjoy the Greek living style because of its traditional “Cycladic” architecture and you will like the comfortable and functional amenities with all the necessary equipments for everyday life. We wish you a pleasant stay !

The house is located in the center of the village of Naoussa with its many taverns, mini markets, pharmacies, cafes, bars, clubs etc. The majority of the most famous beaches are near the village, you can also go by boat every 30 minutes from the port of Naoussa. The village of Naoussa is near from the most cosmopolitan areas of Paros Island and the most popular villages. You also have many buses and taxis.
