"Communication with concierge was top notch. While they are not on property, response time for anything was quick. Great location to walk to pier area. Free trolley stop just down the street. Comfortable beds/linens. Good AC when needed. Everything was great for 3 adults. We used kitchen just to have refrigerator, didn’t use stovetop nor did we cook. "The 1888 is an unconventional “hotel,” really an unmanned guest house but one supported by 24 hour service by phone and text as needed. The reps were extremely responsive to any query and they keep in touch with multiple texts throughout the stay. "We had a few issues with our room. It was advertised as having a kitchenette, but instead it only had a mini fridge/freezer, coffee maker, and microwave—there was no sink as shown in some of the photos. Our room was also located next to an elevator, and the noise was constant, both late at night and early in the morning. A heads-up about the location would have been appreciated since we have small children. Additionally, the bathroom floor tile appeared damaged from water, it was lifted. The door did not close if a towel was placed from the shower. That said, we only stayed one night, so it was manageable. On a positive note, the beach, pool, and food options were all great. Staff were very friendly and amazing service."
