I booked and paid for a 7 night stay here, when I arrived I found out they were CLOSED!!! They took my money and my booking knowing they were closed and are REFUSING to give me a refund! Do not ever stay here if they open again.

The appearance to them is not an issue, their balconies are dirty with old moldy water, leaves everywhere. Their towels must be at least 10 years old..rough and strings falling out oh and no wifi available on the 3rd floor

We chose this hotel to experience staying in a colonial style hotel and explore 5th avenue. The hotel is old but it has a beautiful courtyard and spacious rooms. It is not really a place to do your own cooking as there is little cookware available in the suites, but it it possible if you choose. The rooms do not have wifi, but it is available in the main courtyard. The hotel rooms overlook 5th avenue and the hotel is directly beside a night club that plays music VERY loudly until 3am, however a pair of earplugs work very well. The pool is very clean, cool and refreshing. There are nice tables and chairs in the courtyard beside the pool. Overall, a positive and pleasant cultural experience but they need to get Wifi in the rooms.

When I checked in they had no room key to give to me. Apparently the previous guest kept the key. I did get a key the next morning. I had No Hot Water during my entire 4 day stay! Also the toilet only occasionally flushes. The room was nice, spacious & clean & had a balcony overlooking 5th. It’s very noisy so def not the place to stay if you can’t sleep through loud noises. The architecture is beautiful and they do have a pool however it’s completely shaded & freezing.

Ruido. Feo aspecto. Céntrico. Barato.

Solo si quieres dormir con ruido de boliches desde la tarde hasta la mañana siguiente, si quieres estar en el centro de verdad y pagar barato. Sino, te recomiendo que por 20 dólares más conseguis en playacar un airbnb.

Stay away if you want sleep

Where do I begin? The location is next to a club..my ears are still ringing and sleep isn’t even remotely possible until after 1AM. The front desk attendant during my “contactless” check in might have chosen to wear his mask correctly for the safety of all … he didn’t. The doorknob on my room didn’t work, the glass in my room was dirty, etc. I’m an experienced traveler. I’m willing to accept new experiences but this one deserves warning others ….. this is a backpacker hotel where you want to party late into the night! And Wi-Fi? Didn’t work and when I asked about it ….. I was told only in the lobby. That feels different than my booking. FYI. This hotel has several names

Hotel bem localizado, porém praticamente dentro de uma balada. Tem uma estrutura boa, é bonito, porém durante a estadia percebi uma série de pessoas que não eram hóspedes entrando e saindo do hotel, aparentemente drogadas. Essas pessoas iam para um canto do hotel e depois voltavam, como se estivessem comprando algo. Isso gerou-me insegurança de estar na recepção, pois era intenso o fluxo de pessoas estranhas ao hotel. Wi-Fi inexiste no hotel. Por isso, não recomendo o hotel.

The location is very convenient, next to the 5th avenue however it’s very noisy because there is a bar on the first floor and across the street. The mattress was very uncomfortable. Lastly, the staff at the front desk was not friendly nor helpful. I tried to extend my stay and they said they didn’t have anything available even when I’m Expedia it was shown 3 different options available so I had to change hotels.

The property is a hidden gem in the area as the architecture and plants make it a garden haven. It is perfectly located close to the city center and the beach so there are multiple activities to choose from. The staff was extremely helpful and made the process simple for non-Spanish speaking travelers.

Room was nothing like the pictures. We told the guy at the desk and he said it was the right room, but it did not match photos online. There was no air-condition in the bedroom and there were gaps between the walls and the ceiling where mosquitoes could come in. The place was old and could use a serious make over. Most importantly though, the mattresses were hard as a rock! And to top it off, no wifi in the room! Not great when you are a digital nomad and need wifi for work. I had to pay for extra data from my phone to be able to work. Oh, and the location seems great until you realize that the place is surrounded by bars playing obnoxiously loud music till 4am. Good luck sleeping!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed

Terrible reception service, when we arrived the very rude receptionist, despised, treated us as if we were homeless, bad customer service, insulted us, I would never recommend staying in that hotel, and less with the receptionist who attended us. A disappointment that you plan your vacation ahead of time and for several nights, and that they have such unqualified staff for customer service. If you want to be insulted and humiliated, the Maya del Mar hotel is the right place for you to go!

Close to the beach and in the center of the action. A bit noisy with the neighbouring bars playing loud music. Door did not close without using the deadbolt which didn't give me a secure feeling. Overall, a little run down but interesting layout

Run don’t walk! This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. Leaky ceiling, key does not work, hard bed. Toilet doesn’t flush. The list goes on and on. The only good thing about this property is the location. It’s right in the heart of all the restaurants , shops, and the beach. Hotel is noisy but we didn’t mind it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
