"Arrived at hotel and was double charged for booking (by Expedia and front office staff) at checkin. Staff/Manager apologetic and refund the difference in cash.Was initially given a car park view room with balcony over a smoking area and cigarette smell coming up from below. Was promptly given a new room overlooking the river. Excellent hotel and facilities, staff friendly and everything clean. No USB outlet in room."

Hotel Saranda Butrinti, Affiliated by Meliá

"The hotel is greatly located within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and activities. Being a Meliá rewards member, I asked if I can add my membership to my reservation to which the front desk staff said they are not aware of what that is. Upon accessing the WiFi, I realised it was password protected, the password was not given at check in. The spa which was an amenity at the hotel did not offer massages over the weekend because nobody was available to do it. For breakfast, my friend who is gluten and lactose intolerant asked for gluten free bread which they didn’t have and also they didn’t have any milk alternatives. I mentioned this to the front desk staff at checkout who then indicated that dietary needs should have been mentioned to them at check in so that they can make accommodations. Again, this was not communicated to us, making it impossible to highlight this at check in. The room was clean and the view from our room was amazing. This property was rated 5 stars and for someone who has used other Meliá affiliated hotels in other countries, I was sure left disappointed. They do have some standards to improve."

"We were excited to have a room with a hot tub. Unfortunately, our air conditioner wasn’t working properly, the bed initially had platform slats missing, and the hot water went out each morning when we were trying to start our day. The staff was very friendly and did their best to resolve things quickly, however we only had the room in good function for about 15% of our stay. The room itself is very nice and the location is great. The WiFi was spotty and the pool closes very early unfortunately."

"Spa was not included and was €15 per hour per person. Staff proceeded to gaslight me into saying that the information was on the website which it was clearly not as I spent hours scouring it with still no luck. There was a 3* hotel next door which looked a million times nicer. The hotel is so run down and you get no extra amenities for the 5* label. No robes no extra in the rooms just basic body wash and shampoo and Slippers were made out of tissue paper. Sunbeds were dirty and pool towel man sometimes ran out of cards to return back to people. One couple at reception when checking out were charged €30 euros as the pool towel man took their towels but ran out of cards for them to return when they checked out. Staff are not welcoming or polite. Breakfast was mediocre at best, not 5* quality and hotel pool was cold and not comfortable to swim in. The rooftop pool was also closed which we knew about before booking but found out we couldn’t even go up there just to see the view. The ONLY thing I don’t have to complain about is that the bed was comfy. But seriously don’t waste your money go to the much nicer 3* hotel next door"

ORCHIDS Hotel

"One of the most special aspects of Orchids is the people! They were all so friendly and accommodating. A special mention to Sidrit, who was amazing! Nothing was too much trouble. He was so chatty and friendly! The next best thing is the location! It is right on the beachfront. Going to sleep with the sound of the sea was so lovely. It is a couple of miles out of the centre but that made it quieter, which is what we wanted. A restaurant nearly called Sophra was incredible - highly recommended! The outdoor space was beautiful- we were there in May and we don’t think the season starts until June, so they were setting up their little beach and sun loungers while we were there. There was a small public beach just a couple of minutes walk away too (a very stony beach). Our room was lovely - simple but very nice and very clean. There was a kettle but no cups or tea, but we asked for them which was no problem. The breakfast was again simple, but tasty and relaxed. We didn’t eat here in the evening but had their cocktails, which were delicious, especially when watching the stunning sunset! We would highly recommend Orchids. The pictures are not all accurate (the cabanas on the decking are not in use) but that doesn’t take away the beauty of it."

"We had a delightful stay at Hotel Agimi in Sarandë from May 9 to May 12 in a sea view double room. The hotel is perfectly located just steps from the beach and a pleasant short walk along the promenade to the lively center, restaurants, bars, and ferry port. Our sea view double room felt modern and spacious, with a very comfortable bed, effective air conditioning, and two balconies offering beautiful views over the sea. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the room had a fresh, contemporary feel. We really enjoyed the seasonal outdoor pool area — it was well-maintained with comfortable loungers. Breakfast each morning was a highlight, with a good variety of fresh items, quality coffee, and tasty local options. The on-site restaurant and sea-view terrace also looked inviting for evening meals. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our short getaway relaxing and hassle-free. Overall, Hotel Agimi offered excellent value, a great atmosphere, and an ideal base for exploring Sarandë and the beautiful Albanian Riviera. We would definitely return and recommend it to others!"
