Unexpectedly pleasant experience

Hohola Apartments is a budget accommodation option in Port Moresby. And if you hear in mind that it is a budget stay and do not expect the services of a proper hotel, then you will be rewarded with a good clean room with private toilet and shower, towel and soap, fridge and tea &coffee facilities. I was initially hesitant to book my stay here however the much lower price helped make the decision and I do not regret it at all. They picked me up for free from the airport, took me to the big supermarket so I could buy some food and drinks, we had a very pleasant talk with Ronnie and Kule, they really go out of their way to help their clients. Just amazing service and friendliness that beats all else. It is located within a secure compound, has a common kitchen which you can use to cook or just have a chat. They also have me a lift early morning to another location for free. I did not expect this and was pleasantly surprised. The room itself is basic, but it has all you need for a stay. Walls are quite this so you can here people talk in the next room, but you can always ask people to be quite after a certain hour. no wifi, so get yourself a local SIM card first. And apparently they will take you around the city as well for free, which is a huge bonus

The apartment itself is very cosy, nothing too fancy but decent self contained rooms, for the people who'd prefer a small, private and quiet settings. What stands out is how "down to earth" friendly all the staff is from management to security at the front gate. Really adds to the "feel at home" comfort.

The property was set up in a quiet street. The rooms were spaces and the whole surrounding were peaceful,nice and tidy. Good thing about this property was they have a fully kitchen utensils, it makes it easy to save money and cook your own food.

Friendly and helpful staff arranged airport pickup and drop-off and all my outings. A/C and cable TV stations. The nearby supermarket looks dodgy but I felt quite safe there. The thing that is lacking is wifi.

On arrival the apartment I had booked was not available. Our group had to spilt up into 3 separate rooms. 2 of the rooms didn’t have air conditioning. The noise of the generator was very loud at night.

We had booked a 2 bedroom unit. When we got there it wasn’t available. Our group had to spilt up. They put us up in 3 separate rooms in a one bedroom unit on the bottom floor and 2 separate rooms on the top floor. The 2 separate rooms didn’t have air conditioning. Also the one bedroom unit was near a generator that went all night making a loud noise making it hard to sleep. I will say the staff were very nice and helpful.

日本から旅行でこちらのホテルを予約しました！ ポートモレスビーのホテルは300K以上のところが多かったですが、こちらは非常にリーズナブル150K-200Kです。 空港送迎はもちろん、〇〇に行きたいとか、ご飯が買いたいと言えばオーナー自ら快く車を出してくださいます！！ 家族経営のアットホームなホテルです。 また泊まりたいです。

Tämän kaltaista paikkaa on mahdoton arvioida tähdillä oikein. Ensivaikutelma paikasta oli, että se on ihan rytö. Huoneeni on tosi pikkuinen ja kulahtanut, vessa oli jaettu ja siellä meni ötököitä lattialla eikä vieraille ollut nettiyhteyttä. Onneksi kuitenkin sänky ja ilmastointi olivat hyviä ja huone aika hiljainen, joten nukkuminen onnistui hyvin. Vaikutelma muuttui äkkiä, kun tapasin Ronnien, joka pitää paikkaa vaimonsa Julien kanssa. Kysyin Ronnielta, mistä voin ottaa vettä, ja hän käski minun hypätä pakun kyytiin. Hän vei minut ostoskeskukseen 5 km päähän, jossa oli hyvä iso ruokakauppa ja ravintoloita, josta sain takeaway-ruokaa mukaan. Paluumatkalla ajoimme kiertoajelun keskustassa. Kaikki tämä ilmaiseksi. Asiakkaille ei tosiaan ollut nettiyhteyttä. Yksi henkilökunnan jäsenistä jakoi hetkeksi oman puhelimensa nettiä, että sain hoidettua tärkeimmät asiat. Hyvä paikka siis, mutta ei kannata odottaa tulevansa hotellitason huoneeseen, ja hanki paikallinen SIM nettiyhteyttä varten.
