I recently stayed at Eurostars Porto Douro and had high hopes based on the photos of the room that influenced my booking decision. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations.
Upon arrival, I was disappointed to find that my room looked nothing like the images showcased online. This was particularly frustrating since I chose this hotel over another boutique option specifically for that room layout. When I addressed my concerns with the front desk, the staff member was dismissive, seems quite annoyed, and insisted that I had received the same type of room as shown in the photos. I eventually was given the proper room but was told there were very few that looked like that, which later I found was also untrue and there were in fact at least 10 rooms laid out in that style, which left me feeling misled. Additionally, I experienced a few other issues: The complimentary bottle of wine that was supposed to be included was missing at check-in and required a follow-up for delivery.
The room temperature never exceeded 21 degrees (which was surprisingly cold) even with multiple calls to maintenance and a significant time spent trying to trouble shoot. I spent the last night with three blankets which made my night uncomfortable.
If you are looking for an aesthetic and high caliber boutique hotel experience I would say that Eurostars misses the mark. My overall experience was disappointing, and I hope that future guests have a more positive stay.
