Our family of 5 (myself, husband and 3 children ages 12, 10 and 8) stayed in Casa Linda for 5 nights in March and we all agreed it was our favorite vacation yet...and we travel a lot! From the beginning Kirk made everything very easy. The website is so informative and he responded to my emails very quickly. I picked 3 of the tours explained on the website (zipline, gulf tour with wildlife sanctuary and hike through Corcovado with William) and Kirk set them all up for us, as well as arranging a driver to pick us up at the airport in Puerto Jimenez when we arrived since we were not renting a car. All the tours were excellent.
Casa Linda was clean, large and open, and perfect for our needs. The bathrooms are completely normal, full-functioning bathrooms that you would find at any modern hotel. We would be a tad warm in the evenings and when first going to bed, but it cooled down at night and during the days we got a cross breeze (for the rare moments we were inside during the day). Although I am adventurous I was a little nervous at the prospect of bugs coming in during the night but we experienced absolutely NO mosquitoes (perks of coming during a hot, dry time of year I guess) and also never saw any creepy bugs, even when waking up during the night to use the bathroom, etc. The kitchen was a full, functioning kitchen and we found it easy to use it for our needs. We had Leda come in and cook for us and it was delicious each time. The grocery list and recipes Kirk provided upon our booking were very helpful and we had everything we needed for our week there. The location is absolutely unbeatable!!! You are steps from a virtually private beach that is wildly beautiful with it's black sand and jungle lined shore. It is a bit rocky but the kids didn't mind and LOVED using the boogie boards provided. I loved watching the sunrise each morning as pelicans flew across the horizon and the kids played with hermit crabs. We took the kayaks out one day as well and spent the rest of the time playing in the sand and exploring tide pools when it went out at random times of the afternoon. You are also surround by jungle which provides the absolutely amazing experiences of having scarlet macaws flying around your house & eating in the trees right next your porch and spider monkeys were playing in the trees and eating mangoes. While in the area we also saw two types of toucans, sloths, coatis, all 4 species of monkeys, cayman, green parrots, a tapir, a capybaras & pygmy owls.
