We stayed at Sensira Resort & Spa Riviera Maya for 7 nights / 8 days with our family during the Christmas season. The price was around USD $1,500 per person, which felt reasonable for the time of year. Overall, the resort offers decent value for the price. The food quality was acceptable—nothing exceptional, but generally fine for an all-inclusive resort. Most staff members were friendly and did their best, and service in general was not bad. One recurring inconvenience was at the pool area, where towels were often unavailable. On multiple occasions, we had to wait 30 minutes to an hour just to get pool towels, which was frustrating, especially with children. The main disappointment, however, was how a hygiene issue was handled. We encountered a large cockroach-like insect (about 4 cm) in an indoor hallway. When reported, it was simply swept away and we were told not to worry. No immediate sanitation or pest control action was taken, and follow-up communication from the resort felt very minimal. We understand this is a tropical destination, but for a family-oriented resort, we expected clearer procedures and better guest reassurance when such issues are reported. In summary, Sensira is not a bad resort overall, and it may suit travelers who are not very sensitive to operational issues. However, improvements are needed in overall food quality, pool towel management and, more importantly, in how hygiene-related incidents are handled and communicated to guests.

I have stayed a number of resorts in the Riviera Maya area, this resort was definitely lacking on customer service compared to every single other one I have been to. The staff at the front desk and the dining areas are just not very friendly or helpful. For example, when we checked in, the guy who checked us in literally did not tell us a single piece of information about the hotel...dinning information, where to find things, etc. Not a big deal, but definitely strange. There are 3 al a cart restaurants and the buffet, the buffet could definitely use some improvements for dinner, and getting a seat at the 3 other restaurants can quite difficult/impossible. Most of the waiters we had during our stay were not very friendly, and would not really come around much at all, until after you were done, and then they would wait around for a tip. The most frustrating part of our stay here was the pool situation, every single lounger or chair was taken with people's towels by 7am every single morning. The hotel did nothing about people doing this, so people would just leave their things at the chairs all day long and there would never be anywhere to sit by the pool. The beach would usually have seating available, but the beach here is not swimmable, since the water was completely brown and full of debris...and according the the people who worked here, this is more common than not for their location, which is unfortunate.

We would never stay at this hotel again. Check-in took forever, lots of waiting, and relatively unfriendly staff. Food: mediocre at best and in order to get any food you had to wait in line 30 minutes to an hour and even when it was your turn there was a high chance that they were out of what you wanted to order. Their system for dining was terrible. There is a cafeteria style restaurant that had the same thing every day and most of the food had been sitting there forever and was flavorless and boring. The overall experience at Sensira was quite positive. The food was delicious, housekeeping was excellent, and there were plenty of kid friendly.activities in the kids clubs and water park to partake in. However there were a few deficiencies for us as a family of vegetarians with small children to note as well. 0) Checkin: Was marred by the lack of a crib which was confirmed multiple times pver chat with the Sensira staff prior to arrival. As we arrived late, we asked for room service to bring some fruit and yogurt to our room. For this, we were charged $10 per visit - very odd for an all incisive to be charging for things they could easily bake into their room rate. 1) Food: Vegetarian food at rhe buffet was minimal and there was cross contamination when.preparing eggs, or any fried items. There was inconsistent usage of signage which made it hard to tell if the items were prepared in chicken stock or had seafood ingredients, or were truly vegetarian. The restaurants all had vegetarian menus, which compensated for this slightly, but getting a reservation at those restaurants was not an option, as we were told to stand in line to get a table, sometimes for an hour. The buffet also frequently had lineups. 2) Pool: was fridgid to the point of being almost unswimmable. I'm not sure why they wont just heat it. To be fair the kids pool was shallower and warmer, but still freezing. Their waterpark was great for our 5 and 2 year old, but simply too cold to enjoy.

This was our first time in this resort and this part of town. As you drive into the road that leads to the hotel the road was in poor shape. Horrible shape, so much so that in one of our tours the road pavement was so damaged, that my head touxh the celing of the van. As we got to the hotel, the check in experience wasnt the best and our little nightmare began. I want to point out and make it clear, the staff was amazing, specially isabel the lifeguard, she made our stay so nice, everyone in the pergolas reataurant, and our housekeeping staff. However, there are only three restaurants available, you can only make reservations for one of them. We had to wake up at 8 , to get reservationa for the steak restaurant, but if your reservation was foe 8, youll get in almost at 8:45. The other restaurants is as you come, so youll be makimg the line for a long time specially in high season. The pool area, we tried waking up early to get a spot and we were never able to find a bed. There was only one hot tub in the adults only zone, and if youre in the adult zone kids will still go by. The pools are not heated and this time of year given the position of the pools and the wind. It was hard to enjoy a pool day. The staff is great, but also exploided by the hotel. Given the amount of guest vs the amoint of employee, everything was overwhelming, my youngest had a blast but my oldest found it hard to find something fun to do. There is no turned down service.

This was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a resort. The swim up bar never opened, never enough chairs, hours to get into any restaurant when there were multiple open tables -they were just so understaffed that it made it impossible to serve the amount of people at the resort. The one night they did make up for our issues by giving us a nice dinner and our server Alex by the pool was fantastic. The kids did enjoy themselves as well. The state of the resort had mold all over and dirty floors in our friend’s room. It’s a shame because the resort has great potential but whoever is running it dropped the ball. I wouldn’t recommend until they are staffed properly and clean up the resort.

Everything was awful. We booked a 7 day trip and left after 3 days. This isn’t a 5 stars at all. 2 at best. It’s dirty, food quality is awful, bad service and beach is nasty. Do not waste your time or money. Hotel did agree to refund the unused nights but now disputing with expedia to give me my money back and it’s a nightmare to deal with !!!!

At check in the room door did not close or lock. Main bar had a not so pleasant smell. The butler Rafael was pleasant and polite helped when he could. Rules for pool area not enforced such as holding chairs for more then 30mins unattended. Not your fault but the beach was covered with seaweed maybe due to time of year. Food from room service was inconsistent some days tasted good and others it did not.

The hotel appeared to be short-staffed during the busiest season of the year, and check-in took about an hour. There is an additional charge for a second minibar refill, as well as a 200-peso fee each time room service is ordered. The buffet food was acceptable but nothing special. As we have two children under 5, we appreciated the kids’ pool with slides and the indoor playground, which were great for young children. However, the beach was not suitable for swimming. Unlike some other hotels, seaweed was not regularly removed, which made swimming difficult. Overall, our stay was satisfactory, but we would likely choose a different hotel next time.

La fiesta de año nuevo estuvo increíble! Dieron la milla extra para que la celebración fuera memorable. A pesar de ser temporada alta, había mucho personal para atender a todos y todos con excelente actitud de servicio. La habitación muy bien. La comida bien. From the moment we steps foot into this resort it was a nightmare. The road getting in was awful, made me so sick. Poor road conditions. Our flight was delayed and the gentleman who checked us in at midnight, seemed like it was his first shift. Should not have taken almost 25 minutes which is not ideal with 3 young children. Our room was very basic. Pictures do not do justice to how worn down the facilities are. Tiles on the bedroom floors broken. No door to the bathroom which makes it hard at shower time. There’s way too many guests for the amenities offered. The pools were over crowed and not nearly enough chairs for guests. If you’re not awake by 6-6:30 to save 2 you aren’t getting any. Lines, lines, lines. Everywhere you went there was lines. Never enough staff working, we felt awful for the staff, they looked beyond tired and over worked. They were very nice. Lines to get drinks, lines to get towels (if there even were any), lines to get into why restaurent, because you are not able to prebook dinners anywhere with the except of the steak house, which can only be done at 9am in the lobby (which again requires standing in a long line and going at 8:30 to even get a spot in line) then only to be told its full for the following night, can not prebook for a few days away, only the following day. Restaurants open at 6pm, suggest getting in line at 5:30 to even potentially get a table. We stood in line one night 5:40-6:30 only to be told there were no tables left. Can not swi
The poorly cheaply made hotel bracelets with room key. Lasted nearly a day.
Tiles found all over the property. Especially in the pools. My daughter would bring me handfuls every day. Not safe for young children
What the actual kid area looks like. No greenery like they show in their pictures. Slides are very steep, especially for young children. My youngest fell way too many times and has over 7 bruises and cuts on himself from their equipment.

Other than the staff who seemed overworked and understaffed, this place is a money dump and should be avoided at all costs. The quality of food in just about any restaurant is low, and the only place they serve good quality food (the steakhouse) requires 24-hour advance reservations. If you aren’t there by 9 AM the day before, forget about being able to make a reservation. Rooms got cleaned every other day, with only 2 towels for a family of four. Pools weren’t cleaned while we were there for a week, and trying to get a towel for the pool chair felt like the Hunger Games. Getting a seat at the beach or pool required waking up at 5:30 or 6 AM so that you had a place to sit and enjoy your much-deserved vacation. The beach was dirty—plastic debris was everywhere—and forget about swimming due to vegetation that apparently accumulates heavily in that area. Bottom line, as I mentioned, other than the staff who worked their tails off and were still kind, avoid this place at all costs, especially if you don’t want to spend Christmas at this resort. By far the worst place we’ve been to in Cancun. Oh, and you have to beg them to bring water to your room. Every day you had to ask for basic amenities that you’d already paid for—like shower gel, water, towels, etc

Sensira – The Good the Bad and the Ugly Stayed for a week over Christmas 2025. A real mixed bag. Let’s start with the bad and the ugly because there are plenty of posts about the good – and rightly so. Number 1 bad is towels. Unless you got them at 8am or took them back to your room overnight they were impossible to get many days. People were grabbing 6 at a time. Number 2 bad was the adults only French Restaurant. It is only open one night a week and you had to be queuing at 8:30 Friday to get a reservation for Saturday – that’s just about OK. They also didn’t mention when making the reservation that there is a dress code of long pants and no open toed shoes and it says casual in their own restaurant web page – we only found that out from another review and several people were embarrassed at the door. The worst was however that it was fully charged with appetisers $20 Mains $30++ and drinks through the roof. Can’t say it was worth it because we left before the meal, as had several other people and it left a bad taste on our last day. Thirdly it is impossible to get small change for tips. They are shooting their own staff in the foot and embarrassing guests who might otherwise be tipping much more frequently. The only ATM on site dispenses large denomination US dollars only, not Pesos. The lounge bar staff can break a few notes later in the day when they had gathered a lot of tips, but not often. Last moan before the positives – the road is awful. Massive potholes everywhere.
