Good hostal, especially the fat & beautiful lady

The fat & beautiful lady [I forgot to ask her name and may be she is the owner of the hostal(it is because she is sitting at the reception daily)] of the Hostal is wonderful and helpful, she helped us to arrange the tours to Sierra Negra Volcano and Los Tunneles (both was excellent) in a short while. Moreover, she always remind us to take the necessary accessories for the tours and arrange the delicious breakfast(wonderful omelette, 3 kinds of fresh fruits, cereals with yoghut, meat, cheese, toast ...) before the pick up of the tours and even we can refill the distilled water all the day. Once she also made the rain coat by using the plastic bag for us to take a sudden rainy tour of Volcano in the morning and take us to the dock to get the boat by driving her car in a rush. Although both of us only use the translator of google to communicate, she also use the body language to tell and show us everything, especially the local restaurant for dinner(cheap and delicious). Up to now, all of us also miss her smile and enthusiastic attitude so much.

Problemas con el agua al momento de bañarse, el internet no funcionaba y se pagó a través de expedia.com la reservación junto con los desayunos. Justamente el primer día de estancia nos indican que no está incluido el desayuno.

Lovely family run hotel

The family running this hotel are lovely. They helped us with everything; from booking tours to doing our laundry! The room was very spacious and clean and the water was hot. The breakfasts are nice and substantial. We would definitely stay here again.

Bien ubicado, cerca de la playa y centro

Al llegar nos dijeron que no habían recibido la reserva de habitación por Expedia. Nos derivaron a otro hotel llamado Fragatas de similares características. El desayuno es bueno y lo tomábamos en La gran Tortuga. El personal es amable y la habitación amplia y limpia.

A perfect family run hostal

The rooms are comfortable and clean, the breakfast is great, and the family who runs La Gran Tortuga takes care of their guests.

Jose and Juanita Helpful Hosts

We were met at ferry when boat arrived. Jose very helpful with luggage--from dock to room. Relaxed and easy-going hosts. Room clean and staff kept it so. No chairs TV very poor quality.

Great place to stay on Isabela Island!

My husband, 17 and 15 year old sons and I stayed at La Gran Tortuga for 4 nights last week. We were touring Isabela island. We were so impressed with the owner, Juana Valladares! Before our trip, she set up several tours for us and even answered our questions about what shoes to bring via e-mail! She was incredibly friendly and helpful for our entire stay, treating us to fresh watermelon grown on her organic farm one afternoon, going out of her way to buy us a special breakfast of "balones," a local dish made of plaintains, and even letting us use our room to shower and change after check out. The 4 of us were very comfortable in the one large room; the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. The breakfasts were generous and delicious - lots of fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, omelettes, etc. It helped that we spoke Spanish so could easily communicate with her.

Charmant et confortable

Nous avons passé 6 nuits au Gran Tortuga et avons été très satisfaits de la chambre et du service donné par les propriétaires. Nous avions demandé une chambre à l'étage car si le niveau de la rue convient pour un court séjour, nous préférions être plus isolés pour passer une semaine tranquille en amoureux. Les propriétaires sont très avenants et feront leur possible pour accommoder les clients (ex: déjeuner plus tôt un jour de plongée.

Hotel con amplia habitación, a 2 cuadras del centro y de la playa, atendido por sus dueños, siempre muy bien predispuestos ante cualquier duda/consulta. Muy bien la limpieza.Cuentan con wi fi. Muy recomendable

Buen servicio en la gran tortuga

Muy linda decoración habitación. Justo hubo arreglos por agua potable En la calle. Todo funciono peefecto. Exquisitos desayunos que estan incluidps muy amable la sra. Juana que es la dueña. Muy bueno!

Este hotel está a 3 cuadras de la playa (Puerto Villamil es muy chico igualmente), es un hotel muy prolijo, con habitaciones nuevas, todo muy bien puesto. Muy buen desayuno, muy completos. Además te orientan sobre todas las cosas para hacer en la isla. El precio quizás es un poco más elevado que en las otras islas, pero quizás esto sea así en todos. Recomendable.

Enjoyable stay on Isla Isabela

Close to beach and restaurants. Room was comfortable. Hostel caters to many young adult groups. Breakfast was ample with delicious fresh juices. Not a five star hotel but was fine considering the price.

Very comfortable with AC

The owners have limted english but try hard to understand and are extremely helpful. The breakfast is very good with decent coffee, yogurt, granola, fruit, eggs and toast. The owner Jose also drives a taxi which is very handy and he is working on his english. Nice roof deck to watch the sun set. Also comfortable beds and large private showers with lots of hot water.

Uma excelente escolha. Superou nossas expectativas

Ficamos em um quarto no andar de cima bem amplo e confortável. O ar condicionado e o wifi funcionaram perfeitamente. A localização é ótima: bem perto da praça principal, onde tudo acontece. O café da manhã é muito bom com frutas, granola, iogurte, ovos, sucos, café, chá, pães e geléias. O melhor de tudo é o esforço que a dona, a Juana, faz para que tudo seja resolvido e que os hóspedes se sintam bem. Obrigada Juana pelo seu cuidado. Isso fez a diferença.

Ok hostal

Perfectly adequate in terms of cleanliness and location. Breakfast was simple but had all the right ingredients like eggs fruit ,granola and yoghurt. The hostal is located on a dusty road, and the only outside space to sit in was on a bench on the pavement next to the road. Rooms did not include a chair so you always had to sit on the bed. There was a fridge in the room. The roof space was used for drying washing. The hostal was listed as including taxes which it did not. Your option is to pay in cash or if you want to pay by credit card they added 22 percent. If you turned up on spec the price was lower. Everyone on the island including the owner of this hostal can arrange tours for you. The owner arranges lift to the ferry, but then surprises you with a charge. We gave her too much but she didnt give back the excess. Would I stay here again, no. There are so many new hostals going up, which have better facilities and are cheaper. Those who turned up on spec found some great deals, however a lot of these are so new they dont even have websites.

Very friendly and welcoming

We were met at the port by Juanita. Our room was spotless and well appointed. Comfortable bed. EXCELLENT breakfast with fruit, real Galapagos coffee, fresh fruit juice, toast and eggs cooked differently every morning. Coffee, tea and water available all day. We stayed 10 days and were sad to leave. Juanita organised the tour to Sierra Negra which was excellent, she also arranged our ferry tickets. Our room was always made up by the time we returned from breakfast. We had CLEAN towels everyday. We gave our Laundry to Juanita and it was returned the next morning. It is quiet at Gran Tortuga and having looked at similar priced properties for our extra 3 days we decided to stay were we were (we originally booked 7 nights). Thank you Juana for looking after us so well.

Todo muy bien!

Muy bien. La duena contrató las excursiones. Todas buenas y la habitación estaba muy limpia. Nos dieron toallas para la playa y nos llevaron al aeropuerto. Muy servicial.

Ideal!

En La Gran Tortuga, tuvimos una experiencia hermosa! Recomiendo al 100% este hotel si querés pasar unos días en Isabela. Juana, la dueña, es súper agradable, nos ayudó con las reservas de los tours, con la travesía para llegar a la isla, por otro lado, José, su ayudante muy atento, nos llevaba y traía de las excusiones. El desayuno riquísimo y muy completo!
