I’ve stayed at a RIU more than 5 times & this is the first time in Punta Cana. Their hospitality was very poor, worst I’ve ever experienced. The food wasn’t very good, actually lost weight because I didn’t eat much. Riu party was okay, only thing that saved the trip. Beaches are crowded, entertainment was ok. Took forever to get waited on, tables at buffet were always dirty when being sat

The grounds were phenomenal, and you can’t beat the beach (except for the vendors can get a little pushy). The rooms were good and the housekeeping was above par. The electrical outlets are finicky at best and we struggled to rotate our devices between working outlets to keep things charged. The staff was amazing and attentive.

i been to riu hotels 7 times and this year was horrible the food was below average the staff was horrible lazy , room was old worn down , the 1 pool was used for teaching at 1130 am how about doing it at 8 am we like to swim at 1130 am , my room the paint was peeling on the mirror there was mold , toilet was leaking , shower handle was old worn and faded , paint on the ceiling was peeling , the food service was bad i had to ask for someone to bring me hot tea and coffee they never done this before , this was each morning for breakfast, the bacon was fat and not ever cooked , the italian rest. was bad omg , its sad on how it went done now every year i been there it was in jan or feb but this year we went march 26 maybe it was because of that

Everything other than room service and breakfast was fine. Room service ignored my request 3 times. I requested a birthday balloon setup for my room to celebrate my bday, they ignored that. And the breakfast is just a bunch of pork. I am a Muslim woman. There were no meat selections for persons who doesn’t eat pork. You don’t get to experience all the restaurants because they all open at the same time and close at the same time. Also, my medication was taken out of my room while they cleaned.

Internet was good in most locations of the hotel. Balcony of room was nice. Room safe had sticky buttons and was extremely difficult to insert the code. Room thermostat did not work well for the air conditioner or the fan as it maintained a temperature of 19 to 20 even though it was set to 24. We requested a service technician to look at it through reception but it was NEVER fixed. We ended up sleeping with blankets and long sleeves, which we did not like. We also had to request mini bar service for water and soft drinks because they didn't stop by the room to refill drinks. Closet space was good but dresser drawers sliders were rusted and the drawers didn't open very smoothly. Upon arrival to the room, the drawers were very wet as was the table top. The floor was also somewhat wet in areas, like the closet floor and closet door rollers. This made the closet doors hard to move and open. Overall daily cleaning was good.

Worst experience ever! First they had me double pay for my son and currently going back and forth with hotel and Expedia for a refund. Entered our room sheets had mold on them reported it never changed our sheets we had to remove it ourselves and leave the sheets outside. Till the 3rd day they finally put clean ones. A/C made a horrible noise that we couldn’t sleep, room services had to call like 5 times to actually get what we requested. The only thing we don’t have any complaints about is the restaurant staff/waiter excellent customer service and every friendly. Don’t recommend staying at RIU Palace horrible place and they are the best thefts in the world.

Beautiful resort and nice beach. Room was outdated. Toilet and shower were old and rusted. Soap dispenser was empty and kept falling off the wall. When we checked in, the pull-out sofa was left opened and appeared very cluttered. We had to retract the bed back to the sofa, and the floor was covered with dirt. Room had a musty smell. Food was average. Drinks were hit and miss. The cappuccino bar was my favorite.

I usually stay at Riu Palace Macau, but it was sold out. I chose this Riu Palace Punta Cana and was pleased overall with everything. The bed was a bit hard compared to most and I wish they had tubs in addition to the shower. The water pressure from the rainfall shower head was a bit low, but sufficient. They upgraded me to a better room location which was very nice considering it was a late reservation and only the basic rooms were available when I booked. I stick to Riu Palace locations all over the world as they seem to be consistently good, fun and great staff. My top favorites are: Riu Palace Kukulkan (Cancun) Riu Palace Baja California (Cabo San Lucas) Riu Palace Macau (Punta Cana) These seem to have exceptional properties a step above all the others.
