The property itself was excellent. Built on the side of a mountain, walking was difficult due to steep incline. There is no transportation to the beach, which is disappointing. Walking in the steep inclines and numerous stairs down to the beach discourages older people from enjoying the beach.

We loved everything about the hotel, especially the constant entertainment of the monkeys! If you came to Costa Rica to enjoy the wildlife, you'll be very happy at this hotel. Our room was very nice and clean, the breakfast was delicious and there were lots of options to chose from. The pools had a beautiful views of the greenery and the ocean. Only downside is that the hotel is about 20-25 mins from town where all the restaurants and shops are, and it's quite the hike with the area having big hills and no sidewalks. But if you're the kind of person who is happy just having the hotel food, this won't be a problem. There are so many food options on the menu. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel!

I had carefully reviewed several 5-star hotels before deciding to book Shana by the Beach Manuel Antonio. Unfortunately, this was a major disappointment. Upon arrival, I was informed by the front desk that there was daily construction happening every morning. This was never disclosed online at the time of booking. When I raised this issue, the staff told me they had already informed Expedia to post a notice. That’s not the customer’s responsibility — it’s the hotel’s duty to ensure transparency. Despite acknowledging the problem, no compensation or meaningful solution was offered. The room itself was far from what one would expect from a 5-star property. The faucet was loose and wobbly, the room had a dense, unpleasant smell, and the overall condition felt outdated and poorly maintained. It was clear that the property has not been properly cleaned or refreshed for some time. Between the constant noise, lack of disclosure, and substandard room quality, I would honestly rate this hotel as a 3-star at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting a true 5-star resort experience.

The staff were very friendly, great breakfast buffet with Javier, Edgar, Elieth, and Allan the cook. Great omelettes and fresh fruit. The happy hour was fun with Andre and Daniel. The rooms were spacious, and the pool and hot tub were fabulous. The walk to the beach could be treacherous for some people, all downhill then all uphill. The white faced monkeys like to steal sugar and food so be cautious!

The Jungle view was beautiful. The breakfast was excellent and the staff was nice and helpful. The pool was lovely. The whole snapper at their restaurant was my favorite meal of the whole trip.We indulged in the spa at the resort and I had a great facial and massage. A wonderful experience at this resort overall.

I liked this property, the staff is friendly, except the ladie that works making eggs in the breakfast, she wasn't was friendly anytime, didn't smile and she looks like sad, the rest of the staff so friendly and polite. The second day we have an issue in the room with the water heating, apararently wasn't working properly, but they gave us an room upgrade, we didn't have any issue with the new room, the breakfast is great, the property is well maintained, they are doing some upgrade to some part of the hotel, resuming my stay was great, definitely come back to this hotel in the future. Thank you for your excellent attention and make great our vacations Me gustó esta propiedad. El personal es amable, excepto la señora que prepara los huevos para el desayuno, quien no fue amable en ningún momento, no sonrió y parecía triste. El resto del personal fue muy amable y educado. El segundo día tuvimos un problema con el calentador de agua en la habitación; aparentemente no funcionaba bien, pero nos dieron una habitación de categoría superior. No tuvimos ningún problema con la nueva habitación. El desayuno es excelente, la propiedad está bien mantenida y están realizando mejoras en algunas partes del hotel. The manager and some of the staff were friendly, which we appreciated during our stay. We paid for the spa, lunch, and dinner package for our 5-day visit, and overall enjoyed the amenities. On our last day, we decided to purchase a few drinks offsite to enjoy by the pool. However, a waiter approached us rather rudely, stating that he would “let us finish our last drink” but would not tolerate outside beverages at the pool. While we understand the policy, the way it was addressed felt unnecessary and left a poor impression on our final day. I do not think we will stay there again.
