First: the house is great (and kinda two houses in one, but more on that later). But the back porch, back yard, and pool are just Amazing. If you want a private space away from hotels and such, this is a beautiful (semi secluded) wonderful place to chill.
Two for one: there are 4 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths on the 2 upper floors...this makes a great place for a big family, or a group of people. The second part is downstairs with its own front door and a door leading to the pool. It has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. It feels like a whole second family can stay here.
Staff: Reina is the maid and she is wonderful, helpful and nice. Schatzi is the concierge and she is also helpful and nice. All in all, great "staff". I will add one person to the staff: Jose Gonzales...he is the driver from San Jose to Manuel Antonio and back. He was also wonderful. No complaints on any of the staff.
Manuel Antonio is a town, a beach, and a National Park. All are great. Cute town. Big beach. Beautiful park. The bus is cheap and frequent. Taxis plentiful. Ocean warm. All the people were insanely nice. Most spoke English (often better than me).
Wildlife. Lots of monkeys, sloths, lizards. The monkeys are very friendly, but be careful as they like to steal food if left out. The sloths are cute, but slow. The lizards...ah, so many beautiful Black Iguanas. We had a daily friend by the fountain by the pool. He was a bit wary of us at first, but we fed him a few grapes and he almost became a pet. He probably should get less treats if you don't like lap lizards....We didn't feed the monkeys as that is bad for the monkeys.
At the top of the hill (about 50 meters from our house) is a bar and restaurant that has good food, the best micheladas, and great staff. We went often as it is so close.
At the top of the hill...now here is the potential downside....the house is on a fairly steep hill. We did not rent a car, so walked that hill a few times a day. It will keep you fit. Now if you have a car, or take taxis, it is no issue. If you are young and strong, it is no issue. But it is a stiff climb for people out of shape. Going to the beach requires going up this hill and down and around for 1/4 mile? Or going up the hill and catching the bus. Or by taxi. We usually walked, but just something to consider.
All in all....great trip, lovely people, good food and drinks, amazing sunsets, best backyard in town. Just remember there is a bit of a hill to climb if you go carless
