We just stayed ten days in Villa Margo in Gallou, ten minutes drive outside of Rethymno. The villa was absolutely stunning. Fantastic space in all bedrooms, spotlessly clean everywhere, great living and dining room areas plus two huge terraces with stunning sea and mountain views. Kitchen very well equipped, plenty of towels, lovely bathrooms. The pool area is exceptional. Lovely size pool, plenty of sunbeds with big umbrellas and tables. There is a washing machine and plenty of room to dry everything which made life easy. We had a resident cat repeatedly come into the house which was fun. Friendly enough but slightly unhinged! Rethymno itself is stunning. So many wonderful places to eat and drink, lots of lovely shops, plenty of beach with hundreds of sunbed options which are very reasonable at 10 for two for the day with a little table and umbrella. The villa was the perfect distance away. We hired a car but easily found a taxi number which you WhatsApp to order, they were efficient and always charged the same, 15 each way. The owners of the villa were on hand, very friendly and helpful but not intrusive at all. We had full use of all four bedrooms, the living and dining areas, pool and garden and space on the drive to park. We really could not have wished for a better stay and are already looking at taking friends there next year as we loved the whole set up so much.
