Beautifully Tranquil

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay, the hosts were fabulous and nothing was too much bother considering we managed to livl ourselves out the first night after a long drive. The villa is spacious, clean and has everything you need it’s like home from home. The beds were the most comfortable we’ve ever stayed in.

Tranquillity and comfort

Our stay at the villa was very enjoyable & relaxing. The host family was extremely welcoming, attentive & generous - we enjoyed some lovely homemade meals. The villa was well- serviced. We enjoyed the large comfortable bed & found the villa, in general, well-appointed & comfortable - good air-conditionimg & appliances were much appreciated. Our pool, in the lower villa, did not enjoy the privacy we expected as the villa above has a good view of it, but this wasn't really an issue. We enjoyed the tranquility of the mountain setting & being 20 minutes from a supermarket & other facilities was fine. The proximity to Rethymno is good. Villa Harkia would be a good choice for your holiday in Western Crete.

This was the most relaxing place that we have stayed. It was so tranquil and very nicely appointed. I had the best sleeps! It is totally lovely to sit out in the sun with your morning coffee and listen to the birds, goat bells and insects.

Fantastic welcome from Vaso including a lovely homecooked meal. The villa is lovely, we felt instantly at home. Well equipped, comfortable and clean. Loved relaxing in and by the pool.Do go and find the small kafenion behind the church up in Harkia, couldn't believe how welcome we were made to feel. From start to finish, this was one of the best rental experiences we've ever had. The communication with the owners was outstanding, they were incredibly welcoming, responsive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had everything we needed. It really made all the difference and set the tone for a relaxing, worry free trip.The property itself was perfect in every way: clean, beautifully maintained, well-equipped, and exactly as described (if not better!). This villa exceeded our expectations in every level. The location was quiet and serene with sweeping views of the wild Cretan mountains, gorge and sea. The home was spacious, in excellent working order in all regards and had the most comfortable beds Coco Mat. The owners Nick and Vasiliki are great led us with a full course dinner, wine, olive oil and fruit which was completely unexpected but very much appreciated. They are excellent people who understand Filoxenia, a Greek term referring to hospitality. I highly recommend this property for your next stay Rethymno. A car rental is a must, fyi.

We had the most amazing stay from start to finish. We got there after midnight due to flight times, but were offered a guide to get us there or clear directions with a code for a key box. When we got there, the property had outside lights to guide us in and a fridge with a home cooked meal in, snacks, wine, olive oil and fruit. :-). So welcoming. The next day when we woke up we realised how beautiful the villa was and the views are just stunning. There is a twisty mountain road to get up to the villa but it’s very quiet. You’ll see more goats than cars. Take your time and enjoy the scenery and all is well. The pool was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, the showers wonderful and it was very well equipped. The villa is within half an hour of Rethymno which is delightful. We were also within an easy drive of Knossos, Chania, Heraklion and Lake Kournas. One day however, we just stayed home and enjoyed the relaxation of the villa. :-)As we had a super late flight home and as no one was due to arrive the day we left, our hosts kindly agreed that we could stay way beyond the check out time and enjoy our last day without rushing. We stayed until 4pm and we are so appreciative of the kindness. We even received a parting gift. I cannot recommend Harkia Villas enough. Simply stunning. X.

We have recently returned from three weeks at the wonderful Villa Thimari .We usually rent a villa for our summer break and we have stayed in some lovely places . However this was far and away the best experience we have had. .Irini and her lovely parents did everything they possibly could to make us welcome providing a delicious home cooked meal on our arrival and bringing us wine olive oil cakes and scrumpy cakes. The villa was stylish but comfortable with everything you could possibly need .The roof terrace was perfect for stargazing and watching the buzzards circle and the swallows diving for a drink .The peace and quiet was a wonderful gift for us (Living in Central London) and the views were spectacular. We havent visited Crete for many years and had forgotten how hospitable generous and kind the Cretan people are, Wewill not leave it so long next time. Thank you for making our stay so memorable .Would recommend Crete and your beautiful villa every time. The Bennetts

idyllic dream-destination

We (two adults with three little children) had the lucky opportunity to live for four weeks in villa Thimari during May/June 2010. The villa is very good separated from the other one, so that the privacy is kept very well. Around the villa is nothing than pure nature with a fantastic and absolutely unspoiled panoramic view from the valley to the sea. There is an idyllic silence, the singing of the cicadas und the ringing of the goat’s bells complete the perfect Crete-experience. The villas are very well equipped and lovely furnished and decorated, there was nothing we were missing. We enjoyed especially the fantastic care of the owner and her parents. During many years of traveling to Greece we have never met such a hospitality and such good service (including culinarily highlights!). Renting a car is obligatory for the whole time: You need by car about 15 minutes to the next big supermarket, the trip to Rethmynon takes about half an hour. You can walk to the little village of Harkia, there are two taverns nearby (we mainly cooked in the villa for ourselves). Résumé: The villas are absolutely recommendable! Only people in search for noise and trouble shall search elsewhere for an accommodation.

Een heerlijke plek om te verblijven! Het huis heeft alles wat je nodig hebt. Bij aankomst werden we gastvrij ontvangen en stond een lekkere maaltijd klaar. Ga vooral ook eten bij bij de taverne in de buurt, dat vonden wij erg leuk.

Ein Paradies

Was für ein wunderschönes Paradies. Hoch auf den Bergen mit Blick aufs Meer. Zum Seele baumeln lassen ein eigener Pool direkt vor der Terrasse. Jeden Morgen sind wir erst einmal ins Wasser gesprungen. Der Gast wird rundherum umsorgt. Bei Anreise (Schlüssel im Safe am Tor) steht ein fertiges warmes Essen auf dem Herd. Dazu ein griechischer Salat im Kühlschrank, ebenso Getränke. Dazu auf dem Tisch selbst gemachtes Olivenöl. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter Argiri erfolgt unkompliziert und schnell. Alle Anliegen werden sofort beantwortet und umgesetzt. Innerhalb weniger Minuten sind seine charmanten Eltern da und schaffen Abhilfe. Wir haben uns so wohl gefühlt und sagen Argiri und seinen Eltern von Herzen Danke. Irgendwann kommen wir bestimmt wieder.

Einfach toll!

Wir hatten 2 wunderschöne Wochen in dieser tollen Villa. Herzliche stets gut zu kontaktierende Gastgeber. Wir wurden sogar bekocht und das Essen war superlecker! Das Haus ist perfekt ausgestattet und mit viel Liebe eingerichtet. Gute Betten, darin kann man wirklich entspannen. Tolle Aussicht und die Lage mitten in den Bergen war genau das, was wir gesucht haben! Einfach herrlich. Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt und wir kommen gerne wieder!
