I do not think the AC was functioning or turned on in the building at all--our window was open in the room when we walked in (no screen). Elevators were very slow/one not working. There was no continental breakfast even thought it was stated there would be. On the plus side, staff was very nice and apologetic for the inconveniences.

Showed up after a red eye at noon to maybe see if a room was ready and they told us no to come back after 3 or 4pm. We went back after dinner and visiting our son at about 11:30pm exhausted. Walked in and I can only describe it like an old run down hot and humid convention center when we walked in. The lady at front was nice but instantly said, “no one called you” and we said no and she proceeded to tell us they were over booked and had no rooms and all we could do is call Expedia. Blessing in disguise we were relocated but don’t fall for the cheap price, free wouldn’t be worth it. First time I leave a review in as long as I can remember.

Reading the reviews for this Wyndom property on State St in Rochester, NY definitely were NOT written about this property. The hotel is extremely run down and not well kept at all. There were about a year’s worth of cigarette butts all over the outside. The building itself is very run down and not well maintained. One elevator wasn’t working. The lobby was gross. The staff was wearing sweatshirts or t-shirts and leggings or jeans. Very unprofessional. It was hard to identify who was staff! Our room had no amenities. No soap, no hair dryer, no fridge, no microwave. The heating system was broken so our room was at a constant of 80-85 degrees, which was awful! Toilet broke at one point and it took several hours for anyone to get there. At one point a staffer was telling another staff person about a mouse he just had to push out of the kitchen with a broom—this conversation happening in the lobby in front of guests! I could go on and on about how awful this experience was.

Disgusting, placed in a dirtybroom twice. They refunded my room, but then charged me $97, when i reached out the manager wouldn't return my call I was told there is a new owner and things will change

It looked like our room hadn’t been vacuumed in months. There was a fake nail on the floor, pieces of paper, threads and lint all over the floor. The sheets looked dirty, with hair and lint on them. The bathroom had no soap.We had to go down to the reception desk and ask for clean sheets and changed them ourselves!

Short review: absolute the worst hotel I have ever been to, don’t get fooled by the hotel picture. Long version: I booked this hotel because it is by Wyndham, and the room picture looks very good. The hotel room was recently renovated, and the room condition is the same as what is shown in the pictures, but that is the only good thing about it. The hotel building itself is very old, there is no ventilation in the washroom, and the toilet feels like could be clogged anytime. The a/c in the room only blows hot air, even if I set to the cool mode. The hotel room window is fixed by screws, but the window is not fully closed, which means there is a crack for cold wind blow in during night, and very loud when cars passing by. Staffing wise, the staff has no idea how to run a hotel. My friend book a king bed but when we checked in, they told us only two beds are available. During midnight of our first night, someone just break in my friends room and claimed that he is hotel staff and checking if the room is occupied. My friend have there door latch locked, but it was improperly installed, so it did not prevent people opening the door from the outside at all. The hotel served breakfast for the first day, but they didn’t on the second day, probably because they are too tired from the stripper event last night. Oh right, this hotel host stripping event for ladies opening to people not even staying the hotel. If you are traveling with kids, stay away from this hotel

We had booked two rooms. There was no soap in either room, there was a chicken bone on the floor in one room and hair in the bathtub of the other. The baseboard was coming off the wall in one room (which in and of itself is not a huge deal but when combined with the rest, it was a pattern of neglect). The bathtub was peeling, there was supposed to be a restaurant and we even had a cook come and tell us about their “evening fish fry for dinner” but the “restaurant” area (and I will use that term lightly) had tables but there was no server, no bartender, only partially lit, no menu, no cutlery or condiments anywhere (we had to ask and got plastic cutlery) and the food came in take out boxes and had clearly been sitting there for a while before we got it. The person who eventually showed up at the empty bar to take our order was clearly out of her depth. She was nice but clearly had no idea how to bartend or serve. It was so bad that it became an absolutely laughable experience. This rating could have been 1* across the board but I am trying to find something nice and the bed was comfortable.

The location of the property was great and we had a nice view of the river, however, the windows and inside window sill were extremely dirty. There was a nice keurig coffee maker that we were unable to use due to there being no cups in the room. Also, there was no soap in the bathroom and our tub/shower had no curtain. And the bathroom door scraped loudly on the floor when trying to open and close. The bed was clean and comfortable, though.
