This hotel is terrible, avoid Magic Double / Door at all costs. The impression given from the photos shown on Expedia show a smaller room with plenty of light and modern amenities. Unfortunately this is not the case, the room is damp and falling apart. As part of this review there are a number of photos, which act as proof to the opinions contained below. As soon as you walk into the room there is a bad damp smell, this is obviously affecting the walls of the room, with a large patch of mold on the ceiling of the room. As you can see in the photos, the wallpaper and fixings are also damaged or begining to peel creating a sense that the rooms are not taken care of whatsoever. The shower is tiny with the water taking around 5 to 7 minutes to fully heat up. The linen given is itchy and only one pillow provided, gives a real sense of no expense spared. The residence's proximity to common destinations is the only redeeming feature of the hotel with only a 10 minute walk to the Colloseum and the central train station. With all other tourist sites easily accessible. To conclude Magic Double which has changed it's name many times, most probably due to bad reputation, is awful. For the cost per night most people would want a room to be clean and atleast somewhat presentable. This is not the case and myself and my partner just wished we had dug a little deeper into this hotel's reviews as there are many akin to this one, listing the horrible experiences people have had.

The pillows were pretty beat up and not white. There was blood marks on the pillow case. We stayed there 5 days and our room was only cleaned once. So we had pile of trash. They said to send message on WhatsApp if we needed anything. Notified them Thursday morning we didn’t have toilet paper and they didn’t respond. I saw the guy at around noon and told him and he said ‘ oh maybe mom was busy and didn’t see message’ so I had to buy baby wipes until I got toilet paper. Also, make sure to take shampoo and body wash. They only gave some for 1 day. Thank goodness I had taken some. We had a full bed and bunk beds because we took our kids. Bottom bunk made soooooo much noise that we had one of our kids sleep with us. The refrigerator was leaking. The only good thing is that we were able to use our Netflix account to watch tv. Would I go back to this place? No! It’s more of a dorm room. I have pics but don’t know if I can upload.

This guest house offered independent living without hotel-style amenities. The room was clean, the air conditioning functioned properly, and there were plenty of shops/resturants nearby. The staff was friendly, helpful, and available for questions/support. This area of Rome was right next to the metro, and it was easy to explore various parts of Rome. Reasonable price for this style of stay; however, if you are looking for a hotel-style stay, this is different.

La ubicación era buena, el personal muy amable. El edificio muy seguro, pero nos avisaron de la inseguridad de los alrededores lo que agradecimos. Nunca supimos que era una casa de huéspedes. La aplicación marcó un elevador pero a nuestra habitación no había. No hay internet y cuando hay la seňal es muy pobre. En general bien . Muchas gracias

Our stay was so wonderful here, the room felt so cozy and so big, the area was really good, we felt safe all the time, the only downside was the stairs, we had to carry our bags up the stairs and it was kind of narrow. There are many good Italian restaurants in the area, so that was a plus as well!

Le matelas est de bonne qualité mais c’est le seul point positif, compliqué d’avoir de l’eau chaude il faut attendre très longtemps, le lit n’est pas super, la chambre mal insonorisé et l’accessibilité compliqué. L’acceuil n’est pas très bien non plus, très mal organisé et réponse tardive en cas de problème. La machine à café est en panne.

The room was good. Bed was comfortable and we had a nice view from our room. The bathroom shower was super small tho. Other than the shower, we didn’t have any problems. Also it’s super close to the metro and walk distance from terminal and most of the tourist places.

Mi estancia en este alojamiento en Roma fue excelente. La habitación estaba muy limpia y equipada con todo lo esencial para una estadía cómoda. Destaco especialmente la hospitalidad de los encargados, quienes fueron muy amables y flexibles con algunas solicitudes, lo cual hizo que la experiencia fuera aún mejor. La ubicación es otro gran punto a favor: está muy bien conectado, a poca distancia caminando tanto del Coliseo como de la estación central de Roma, lo que facilita muchísimo moverse por la ciudad. Desde mi perspectiva, es un lugar 100% recomendado, especialmente por la relación calidad-precio, que me pareció excelente. Sin duda volvería a hospedarme aquí en una próxima visita a Roma.

We planned a last minute day trip to Rome and scrambled to find accommodation - we’re so happy we came across the listing for Magic Door. The price was great, checking-in was pretty simple, and the staff was great (also communicated before hand about our arrival time which was very appreciated). The room has heat, A/C, a television, WiFi, secured doors into building, elevator and individual rooms, and basic bathroom amenities, as well as a mini shared coffee station. Convenient to the train station, shops, restaurants and many historical sites. This was a great deal for an overnight stay - if you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this isn’t for you, but this definitely surpasses the basics of hostels or group housing. Definitely recommend for single or couples looking for an affordable option in Rome!
