Possibly my favorite holiday ever
First things first, this property is lovely. Le Manoir itself has been beautifully renovated and restored by brothers Simon and Nicholas. The house itself is spacious, decorated well and set up for large groups. A mix of old and new adds to it's charm and I would say for our large group of 12 it worked very well. The brothers are detail orientated and have made it their priority to see that everything is functional, easy to use and well thought out. From two sets of cutlery and dishes to every kitchen appliance imaginable, it all made for a seamless and easy stay. We were also encouraged to suggest anything that wasn't provided for, but honestly we couldn't think of a thing. The grounds are beautiful and well looked after. Plenty of space to play badminton, croquet or football. There is a sweet little vegetable and herb garden that we were welcomed to pick from (and did). We were a family of all ages (a baby to grandparents) and, the property catered well to everyone. The pool area was fantastic. A lovely sized salt water pool , and a covered well-supplied outdoor kitchen, dining table, fireplace and seating area. Again, every detail had been worked out and we thoroughly enjoyed the majority of our evening meals here. Additionally for the two rainy days, we all enjoyed the games room which featured a big screen TV, table tennis and foosball. The surrounding area is lovely. Le Manoir sits at the top of a sweet village with a short two minute walk to the little village shop. We made it a point to wander down and pick up croissant, pain au chocolate and baguettes every morning (delicious). The shop was well stocked with things we occasionally ran out of and was convenient if we didn't want to head to the bigger supermarket 15 minutes up the road. This part of Dordogne is very pretty. Winding little roads that take a while to get you places, beautiful scenery and practically no one else around. This all contributed to a sense that in this part of the world at least, life is a little simpler and a little slower. We divided our two-week stay between relaxing at the property, spending time with family and visiting some local caves, lovely little villages and markets in the area. There is plenty to do. And if you like the idea of being in the heart of the French countryside with very few other tourists, this will suit you well. All in all, I would highly recommend this property. We created many wonderful memories here.

Absolutely fabulous two week stay!
We had originally booked in 2020 and had to cancel for obvious reasons but rebooked for this year and crossed our fingers that we wouldn't have to cancel for a second time.! Fortunately, we lucked out! The hosts of this property live next door, and are quick to respond, very friendly and accomadating! The property itself has been completely renovated inside, so the pictures are accurate. We had four main criteria for any property, 1) All bedrooms had their own baths, 2) New or Newer kitchen, 3) A pool, 4) Wifi throughout. This property met all that and definitely exceeded our expectations. The only minor letdown was inconsistent wifi, but we could have easily asked our hosts to reset it when it went out, we didn't because we really needed to disconnect anyway, but I hear they're getting fiber next year(!!), so that makes this property really a stand out. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious, the outside pool area is over the top (With a HUGE pool), we will defiantly be returning! Thanks so much for a fabulous and much-needed vacation!

Fantastic Property in a lovely village
We had a great New Years break at Nicholas and Simon's property. The chateau provided the perfect spot for friends to get away and relax, spending most of our time playing board games and enjoying wine and cheese. Nicholas showed us around on arrival and was nearby if we had any problems throughout our stay (not that we did). The house was lovely and warm throughout our stay and had everything provided we could have possibly needed.

For the last 15 years I have travelled over 180 days a year (that's 2700 nights). I have stayed everywhere from the Waldorf Astoria and Ritz to 1 star on Greek Islands. This was head and shoulders my best experience. The place is great, everything the website said and more, but it is the hosts, Simon & Nicholas that stood it apart. From a host of wow's to follow up, communication, nothing is a problem to checking the weather in advance. I can't thank you guys enough. - Simply the best as Tina Turner would say: a 10 out of 10

Perfect!
I had high expectations of Le Manoir after reading the reviews and the description - but they were far and away exceeded. From the moment we arrived until Simon and Nicholas waved us goodbye at the end of the week, they were excellent hosts - discrete but available whenever we needed their help or advice. Every morning when we returned to the pool area they had already been in to ensure that everything was clean and tidy and the wine restocked! The chef they recommended cooked us a meal which was excellent and so much nicer and easier than going out for dinner and getting taxis for 13 people. The velorail trip was great (though it didn't necessarily feel like it on the way up!) and the information on places to visit was brilliantly presented and really helpful We had everythig

Absolutely Fabulous
Le Manoir is one of the most special places my family and I have stayed. The chateau is beautiful inside and out with impressive gardens. It was wonderful to be able to use the some of the home grown veg in our cooking and enjoyed several games of cricket, croquet and volleyball! We lived beside the pool and could not have asked for more in terms of facilities. Nicholas and Simon are wonderful hosts. They made us feel really welcome and got the balance just right between hosting and leaving us to get on with our own devices. We cannot wait to go back!

Fantastic property in lovely village. Great Owners!
We had a wonderful stay as a party of 12 across 3 generations to celebrate a 70th birthday. We all had so much fun and there is so much to do at the property - pool, garden games and other games, amazing cinema room - that we barely explored the local area! Many thanks to the wonderful hosts Nicholas and Simon for the very warm welcome, the wonderful fresh fruit and veg from the garden, and being on hand for any other queries. Parfait
Si la perfection existe, elle se trouve au Manoir de Saint-Sulpice-d'Excideuil. Nous avons passé un Week-end de rêve dans cette magnifique propriété. Un grand merci à nos hôtes, Simon et Nicholas, pour leur accueil, leur présence, leur attention, et par dessus tout leur discrétion. Les chambres sont magnifiques, la cuisine très conviviale et le pool-house somptueux. Nous avons eu accès au jardin (fraise, rhubarbe, menthe…) et au poulailler pour ramasser quelques œufs frais. Nous nous sommes initiés au croquet dans le jardin digne du central de Winbledon. Bref, pour conclure, tout le groupe souhaite revenir l'année prochaine pour notre Week-end de la Pentecôte. If there were more stars - this would be a 10 Fantastic place, fantastic facilities, fantastic hosts
Set in rural France to the north of the Dordogne, this Manoir is a treasure. Beautifully restored and well equipped, this is the ideal holiday for extended family or for groups of friends. Lovely rooms with great comfort, a stunning garden and a magnificent pool with a pool house and facilities for outdoor cooking. Our hosts Nicholas and Simon were both tremendous fun and always available but they were sensitive to our needs and judged when to join in and when to leave us to ourselves. They live in a small building on site and make sure that everything is working. They even clean the bar-b-que and the planche every morning and make sure that there is a constant supply of cheap but very drinkable wine on hand! Croquet on the lawn, vegetables from the garden - it couldn't be more idyllic. There is lots to do in the area which is largely not full of tourists even in the summer months (a great change from the Dordogne proper which we found busy, crowded and over-rated).The local store is perfect with fresh bread and pain aux raisin and supplies of almost everything. Local visits include Thiviers, Perigeaux and the beautiful villages of Excuiduel and Saint Jean de Cole. Lots of places to eat, castles to visit and gardens to see. Highly, highly recommended

Fantastic Property with many charming details. Excellent Hosts!
The Manor house and pool are fantastic. The Hosts are great and every little detail is very well thought out. We had a great week. There is one EXCELLENT Bedroom, One slightly less, and each of these has an adjoining bedroom perfect for kids, etc. Upstairs two more Bedrooms which are fun and unique. Not as easy to climb to, however. The pool house is fantastic we spent most of our time there. The town is tiny but has a nice gourmet shop/ market and a small bar which is not open very much... St Sulpice d'Ex is very nicely located and easy to get everywhere, we rented electric bikes and covered a lot of ground from there. We will return to the Manor!

To the Manoir Born - the Good Life found
What a wonderful time we all had on our week's stay at Le Manoir St Sulpice - D'Excideuil. We are a family of eleven, age ranging from Granny at 71, down to Margot, the youngest, at 3. From the moment the first of us arrived and were shown the house by both Nicholas and Simon, we felt totally welcome and very much at home. Le Manoir is stunning, so much space to feel comfortable in, and every room is so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and furnished. Every modern convenience is ready for use: the kitchen has generous numbers of devices and helpful machines, and enough cutlery, glasses and crockery to cover all requirements. We all found the beds faultlessly comfortable, and each bedroom having its own modern and well appointed bathroom made such a difference. The hot water was constant- always important where several children and fastidious adults are concerned. But enough of the huge advantages of the house: outside- an eye watering variety of games awaited : badminton, a football goal, cricket bats and ball, croquet for the less agile and the most attractively set swimming pool, with enough good quality lounges around it for us all. An open fronted loggia beside the pool was a delight. In it a huge fireplace ( logs supplied and replenished every day) gave warmth as we sat at the enormous beautiful oak dining table for relaxed evening cocktails and meals. A barbecue and a plancha gave the men the opportunity to show off their culinary prowess and all the tableware we needed was available there in wall cupboards, above worktops and a sink. A modern loo in one corner meant leaving to go to the house was unnecessary throughout the evening. Finally, the garden : the rose beds were glorious, the topiary clever, the lavender prolific and the vegetable and fruit gardens Chelsea ready. An unexpected extra gardening guest wandered by on our sight each evening: to the delight of us all - a hedgehog! We cannot thank Simon and Nicholas too much for providing such a perfect place to stay and enjoy, away from our fast moving everyday lives.Their tolerance and generosity knows no bounds, such kind hosts, such interesting people - we can't wait to visit again.

Fantastisch kasteel met gastvrije service.
Het huis zag er van binnen nog mooier uit dan wij verwachtten. Zeer smaakvol en ook praktisch. Alles aanwezig ook voor een verblijf met kinderen. Buitenruimte ideaal bij mooi weer met prachtig en veilig zwembad. De prachtig onderhouden tuin biedt veel ruimte voor sport en spel. Een rustige omgeving in een prachtig landschap.

Wonderful Venue for a Family Holiday or Friends' Reunion
The chateau boasted every facility one could wish for in a holiday: comfortable bedrooms with ample bath/shower rooms; modern well equipped kitchen, several areas to choose from for meals, so our party of 8 adults and 5 children was comfortably accommodated. Our hosts, Simon and Nicholas Corry were attentive without being intrusive. They had thought of everything to please their guests, from the attractive poolside area with covered dining and BBQ facilities to table tennis, badminton and trampoline. There was even a well stocked toy and games cupboard for the young and not-so-young. We all appreciated the reading and writing areas and the books and stationery provided Two roof terraces supplied both views and peace if there was a need to retreat from the main party for a while! The only downside was the lack of a shop in the village as the owners were on holiday the week we were there. The village of Excideuil had a good supermarket which was a short drive away and on most days someone was out and about to collect fresh bread for lunch at least. It was no hardship to settle for pain au chocolate and croissants heated for breakfast.We spent most of our time enjoying the chateau though other attractions like caves, historic villages, markets and the lake with a beach, were a half hours' drive away on average.As with most old buildings that have been converted there were a few quirks, like the spiral staircase and a couple of low doorways, but one soon learned to duck! The conversion was completed to the highest standards and our family is most grateful to Simon and Nicholas for their hospitality. Thistleton and Orchard families from London, Canterbury, New York
