「My mother and I stayed in June hoping for a relaxed holiday, and were disappointed at every turn. Check-in is 3pm, which is fair — but at 3pm a ten-person conference group descended and we were made to redo a check-in process we'd already completed, adding half an hour. The room looked fine but wasn't clean: prominent finger marks all over the bedroom mirror, still there after two days. It was only cleaned after I raised it, and even then not until the next day. Guest experience showed little...

「A refined hotel amongst many in the region which are less so. The feeling is quite exclusive, but of course, you pay for that. The food is very good, although “Lobster served with chips and a crispy fried egg, which sounds irresistible, is disappointing at euros 110 for two people,1 small lobster, between 2 does not go far. We will definitely return though for the sweetbreads cooked on the Josper! A very friendly and relaxing experience all told.」

「Heating insufficient and hotel did not answer my questions about that. Shower moldy and broken, we did not dare use it. Toilet unusable for a normal size person, the sink blocks you from sitting down (my wife was able to squeeze in diagonally). In general the room was in a state of disrepair and absolutely nothing like the pictures of the room we had booked. STAY AWAY」

「I suppose the kindest thing to say is that The Monkey Room is a "work in progress". The hotel/hostal is right in the centre of Marbella Old Town and although it sets out in adverts to be "chic" and "cool" it has a long way to go. While I was there a workman was on site preparing another cubby hole as a bedroom and I think my room was only half-finished. The nights were cold and only a single sheet covered the bed and, after moving my room to the one in the photo (instead of on the roof) I found...
