A beautiful setting, very friendly staff and service, and the room was great. We found the beds very comfortable and the room was clean! We had great wifi in our room, which was attached to the lodge. They have a dining room, a little coffee shop, and a very noce gift shop. Visiting the state trout hatchery was a highlift. We got to see the hatchery feeding the trout.

We really enjoyed our stay, it’s a beautiful area in the State Park. Which is why we chose it. The lodge or (motel rooms) were not really dirty, but the shower was gross, nothing that a GOOD SPRAY & brush of BLEACH cleaner couldn’t fix. It’s REALLY for AVID fly fishers, but the outside of the rooms needs a good going over also. The staff was excellent. Beautiful!

If you like waking up in the morning to perhaps seeing a couple deer outside your room, an eagle flying above or trout fishing the crystal waters, this is the place for you. Also, a nod to the staff. They are kind, friendly and helpful. All of them!

We’ve been going to Montauk for 60 years; it’s a state park for trout fishing. If you don’t like to fish it probable will not appeal to you. If you like to hike, and experience wildlife I would definitely recommend it. The staff is nice, the restaurant is good and there is WiFi .

The park is beautiful and staff help was excellent. Fishing was good but unfortunately the cleaning station was closed. I found out Expedia charged $100 more than if I had just made the reservation directly with the park and Expedia would not refund the difference. If you stay in a duplex cabin you have to share the picnic area instead of having your own

This could be a beautiful place to stay if they redid the rooms and cabins. If they had good management the place wouldn’t look like it did! The cabins are full of mold and smell of it! The room hadn’t even been cleaned, the beds had hair in them and debris. You could tell the cleaning staff just made the bed and didn’t change the sheets, etc. they didn’t even care to make it look like they did. There was hair and grease and sticky stuff all over the tables next to bed. It was just a dirty place. This is a state park and a beautiful place and that lodge could really be a wonderful place to visit and stay. The staff wasnt knowledgeable about anything or the area.

Room was clean enough for two guys fishing. Basic cabin only had a mini fridge. No microwave to heat things up. TV worked fine but was small and mounted high on the wall. The website was lacking on clarity about amenities.

All of the pictures listed of the cabins show a small living room and kitchen/kitchenette, so I was shocked when I entered my cabin and there was only one room with two beds immediately entering the door and one very small bathroom. My 12 year old could barely use the toilet because it was tucked between two walls that were very close together. The tv didn’t work and it said if it wouldn’t work to call the front desk, but no one ever answered the phone at the lodge. We tried multiple times. There were TONS of ants on the floor between the beds, and mouse droppings in the bathroom, and the bathroom walls were filthy. There were also several missing blinds which left very little privacy inside the room. The staff was friendly, but they kept trying to charge my card over and over because they said my deposit wasn’t paid. I kept telling them to contact Expedia because my card had been charged through them and the payment cleared. But they even tried to charge me while I was standing there checking out. I’ve gone to Montauk for years, but this wasn’t my favorite trip. The fish weren’t biting much at all, which is a risk you take and no one’s fault. The properties could definitely be better maintained and I felt it was a bit of false advertising without a living room/kitchen area. There was one mini fridge but no microwave, which we were expecting a full size fridge and microwave from the photos. Definitely not worth $400 for three nights.
