Poor Value And Not As Expected!
Unfortunately Casa Crawford failed to live up to the description and pictures on the website. There was no barbecue, dvd player, ipod dock and some of the furniture has changed. When we arrived, the maintenance of the apartment was not up to scratch with no hot water, a toilet which wouldn't flush, broken shutters, a bare lightbulb in the lounge (shade missing), soiled bedding and a dishwasher with broken runners. Some of these issues were quickly rectified by workmen, arranged by Bruno, the friendly local manager of the apartment. However, this involved a couple of interruptions to our relaxing time at the apartment. Not ideal really.
We complained when we were there and whilst Bruno tried to help as much as he could the office staff at Feeling Italy didn't respond at all. When we returned home they did refund us 10% of the cost for the problems encountered. Prior to arriving at the apartment I was impressed by Feeling Italy as they always replied quickly to my emails. The booking process was also straightforward as payment can be made by credit card.
On the positive side, the apartment has a very spacious balcony, although when we visited in October this was mainly in the shade for most of the day. I'm sure this would be sunnier in the summer. The balcony is well equipped with sun loungers and a table/chairs. The views were fantastic. The beds were also very comfortable.
The location of the apartment is good with several decent restaurants within walking distance. It was also nice and quiet as the apartment was at the back of the property. The walk into the centre of Sorrento takes about 20-25 mins via one of two busy roads. Not the most pleasant - opt for the road nearest the bay. Subject to availability, parking is available on the street for 15 euros per week.
Overall Casa Crawford was a disappointment. Perhaps we were unlucky but based on our experience we won't be returning. Hopefully Feeling Italy will sort out the problems in advance of the 2017 holiday season.
