This charming complex of traditional cave houses is in the heart of Oia and has a 2 level rooftop terrace/garden. It sleeps 7 people. There are 3 bedrooms with 2 queen and 1 double bed, 3 kitchenettes, 3 baths with shower, 2 bath-spa & an outdoor private hot tub. Wi Fi in all areas (indoors-outdoors). No direct view from the houses but our guests are invited to enjoy Oia's famous sunset view, the magnificent Caldera and Ammoudi port from our private SANTORINI PARADISE CAVE HOUSES' rooftop terrace, 2 minutes walking distance, while tasting complimentary snacks and wine. Oia's main places of interest are in less than a minute.

The cave house is in the heart of Oia. Very close to the center and away from all the hustle and bustle of the main street. ‘TRADITIONAL RESIDENCE’ consists of three villas. The Traditional Apartment, Traditional Studio and Traditional Cave.
The "Traditional Apartment" has one bedroom with traditional style double bed & a canopy and a living room with a large, comfortable sofa bed. There is a kitchenette, the bathroom features a shower and there is a spa bath.
The "Traditional Studio" has a queen bed, a kitchenette, an indoor spa bath in a cozy little room especially designed for it and a nice, modern bathroom with shower.
The "Traditional Cave" has one bedroom with a queen bed, a kitchenette, a bath with shower & a private outdoor hot tub (Jacuzzi) up to 37 Celsius! The rooftop and outdoor garden are very peaceful and beautiful. There are 2 levels at the rooftop terrace of the traditional cave residence (80 m2). We offer daily service so it is expected that our personnel will come to change the linen and wash them in the washing/drying area.

Our top-mattresses are made of combinations of natural rubber, seaweed, goose down, virgin wool, pure cotton and eucalyptus. Seaweed emits iodine to soothe respiration and eucalyptus lends its seductive fragrance. All the materials together, unified, interact and create ideal sleeping conditions. They “embrace” the body, ensuring that even the smallest curve is fully supported. Linen are silk/cotton and towels are of the best Egyptian cotton.
The location of “TRADITIONAL cave RESIDENCE ” is suitable for our guests to reach the main places of interest of Oia in a minute! Oia, this beautiful village carved into the ash of the volcano more than 1,500 years ago, will receive you in one of its original, traditional cave houses! People here dug their houses underground or into the cliffs to be protected from the wind, the cold, the summer sun and especially the earthquakes! The cave houses is 20 meters from shops, restaurants and 2 minutes walking distance from market, galleries, bus and taxi terminal. It is located in the old city of Oia near the Castle which is the famous ‘Sunset Point’ of Greece! It is also 2 minutes’ walking distance from the Lounge Cafe Pool Bar “Lyogerma” and 10 minutes’ drive from the three beaches that are near Oia.

In the heart of old Oia, this magnificent village carved into the volcanic ashes more than 1,500 years ago, at one minute walking distance from the center and away from all the hustle and bustle of the main street, the TRADITIONAL RESIDENCE Cave House offers you the essence of Santorini’s experience: tradition, comfort, relaxation and the opportunity to witness the world-famous Oia landscape and sunset in the privacy of SANTORINI PARADISE roof garden/terrace.
But what makes the TRADITIONAL RESIDENCE so special, apart from its location and its unique architecture, is the history woven into its atmosphere, carved into its walls.
In the old times, the people of Oia dug their houses either underground or into the cliffs, to be protected from the harsh winters, the scorching summer sun, the earthquakes and the pirates who dominated the seas. This kind of architecture –truly bioclimatic before the word “bioclimatic” was even invented– makes the village a unique place on the planet! And TRADITIONAL RESIDENCE is one of its original, traditional cave houses, with its rooms arranged around the courtyard, in the traditional way the houses and the palaces were built in antiquity.

TRADITIONAL cave RESIDENCE was built in 1827, six years after the Greek revolution against the Ottomans began. Throughout the revolution, people fought hard against the Turks & the pirates and, at the same time, strived to build a roof over their heads to protect themselves and their families.

With the severe earthquake in 1956, all the houses built on the ground, including those of the richer people, called kapetanospita, collapsed. TRADITIONAL CAVE RESIDENCE and all cave houses dug underground did not suffer any damage at all! In this house, the owner, who was then the mayor of Oia, received Konstantinos Karamanlis, minister of public works at the time and later prime minister of Greece, who had come to the island to inspect the very difficult situation after the earthquake. Actually, the meal offered to the minister that day in this house consisted only of fried eggs. This meager meal revealed Santorini's dire condition after the earthquake.

This is the legacy that makes TRADITIONAL RESIDENCE so special. And for all these reasons, all renovations were made keeping in mind that it has to be preserved exactly as it originally was! So, come and experience the history of this cave house while enjoying its modern comforts and splendors.

The rate includes taxes and:

1)Checking in time is at 15:00 at the earliest and checking out time is 11.00 at the latest
2)A welcome assortment of bottled mineral water, wine, juice and fruits upon arrival
3) In our cave houses, we offer the following breakfast provisions: juice, honey, butter, peanut butter, Merenda, two kinds of marmalade, condensed milk, sugar, milk in individual portions, a can of concentrated milk, tea, 2-3 kinds of coffee, 2-3 kinds of cereal, cereal bars, toast, as well as fruits, yogurt, smoked turkey, bread, cheese and biscuits, all packaged in portions following the instructions given by the WHO organization and the Greek government. If you run out of one or more provisions, please let us know in advance so we can refill it.
Two bottles of mineral water will be in the fridge to refresh you when you arrive. For your additional water supply, a mini market is opposite the KEP, our meeting point.
4) Daily cleaning and maid service. Change bath & beach towels every two days and sheets every three days.
5) Satellite TV, Wi-Fi in all areas and air conditioning.
6) Two private spa baths and one outdoor hot tub functioning all year long
7) By showing our Special Privilege Card, you have discounts or free deserts to a few restaurants in Oia and other towns in Santorini!

The cave RESIDENCE is in the heart of old Oia, 2 minutes walking distance from shops, restaurants, market, galleries and 5-7 minutes from the bus & taxi terminal. It is located in the old city of Oia near the Castle which is the famous "Sunset Point" of Greece! There is a free parking place 3 minutes walking distance from the house near the KEP (Citizen Service Center) and SANTO SOUVLAKI.

There are no addresses in Santorini so we always define a meeting point which is at the Oia’s Citizen Service Center (K.E.P. in Greek), opposite Atlantis Dive Center. This is the closest spot to the cave house a car can drive.


TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:
Please, send us all the necessary information such as: flight number, airline, vessel’s
name, shipping company and exact time of arrival/departure. A driver will be waiting for you at the gate holding a sign with your name. The transfer agent will drop you right at our meeting point. Our bellboy will meet you there right away.

Access to Beaches
If you like walking, you can go on foot to Ammoudi wild, lava beach by going down a number of stairs (about 250) but the few little picturesque taverns compensate you!
The house is 5 - 10 minutes' drive from the three beaches that are near Oia. There are many interesting places to go swimming, sandy or with volcanic rocks, all over the island.
