  • Designed by John S. Norris for General Hugh Weedon Mercer, construction of the house began in 1860. Great renovation

Our recent 2-night stay at a VRBO property in Savannah was a mix of delight and caution. The home itself was absolutely stunning—immaculately clean, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the comforts one could hope for. High ceilings, charming architectural details, and a lovely outdoor space made it a true retreat after a day of celebrating our recent grad. However, the neighborhood left something to be desired. While we never felt unsafe, the area was noticeably less maintained than other parts of Savannah, and we were more mindful when walking after dark. Despite this, the home's beauty and comfort made our stay memorable, and it served as a convenient base for sightseeing. We recommend this property for travelers who prioritize a gorgeous home environment and are comfortable with a neighborhood that may not be as polished as Savannah’s historic core.
