I was highly disappointed with the Holiday Inn, I have stayed at numerous Holiday Inns over the years for work and have often sought them out. However, I was highly disappointed with the Holiday Inn Historic District. If it was just one thing, I could overlook it, however it was quite a few things.
First off, the property itself did not appear to be well cared for. There were scuff marks all over the walls down hallways and in rooms and on various floors as well. The elevator had a bad smell to it and was way pass its inspection date by more than 2 months.
The water had a sulfur type smell to it, which I was told is common for Savannah (so I can overlook that - if that is the case. In room room, there was damage to the wall and stains on the carpet. The bed also appeared to be coming off its frame. In the bar area on the main level, a window was broken - and left in a scattered/ spider type pattern. Thankfully it wasn’t on the ground.
In addition to the poorly cared for property, I was not impressed with the food staff other than Troy the even bartender. They charged $15.95 for breakfast per person and all you got was a choice of one egg and a side and a beverage. I am sorry, but I can get more at Denny for about the same price. The worst part was they never had the yogurt parfait in the 4 days we had breakfast there. I wouldn’t have eaten breakfast all 4 days if I hadn’t already prepaid. Sadly the staff for breakfast was so very slow - I’d say more but I guess I am limited
