The staff was kind and the beds seemed clean. Parking was wide enough. Unfortunately, the negative aspects outweighed the positives: The worst thing was that the room smelled terribly like cigarette smoke. I kindly asked the front desk person to please change us to a non-smoking room, especially considering we were traveling with small children including a baby, but he told me they were expecting high occupancy that night, so he offered me an air freshener spray. He said that the whole hotel is nonsmoking area. Well, their housekeeping staff didn´t report that room 222 has a strong cigarette smoke odor. In addition to that, the elevator seemed not well maintained (I noticed it when going up the first time), and guess what; the elevator wasn´t working the next day, forcing me to carry luggage, a stroller, and a baby down the stairs. The toilet had brownish water in it. The interior walls of the toilet were visibly dirty. A deep cleaning is pending to remove unwanted stains. The water dispenser at the breakfast area was broken, so there was no water during breakfast. No eggs, and few options to eat for breakfast. The hallways also did not appear clean. Overall, these deficiencies reflect a lack of basic standards one would reasonably expect from a Sonesta property. While I have had good experiences with Sonesta hotels in other countries, this was our first stay at a Sonesta in the USA, and it was a complete disappointment. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend it.

I had a great stay! The hotel is perfectly located near Savannah, making it easy to get around. Our room was very spacious and spotless. ​What really stood out was the service. We had to leave earlier than planned, and the manager Abhi Menon was incredibly kind enough to refund us for the two nights we didn't stay. That kind of honesty and hospitality is rare! Highly recommended for the clean rooms and the amazing staff."

During check-in, the front desk staff photocopied my driver’s license. I immediately raised an objection, but the staff insisted that this was required by the Georgia state government. I am very concerned about the potential leakage of my personal information. I have stayed at many hotels in the U.S. and this is the first time I have ever been required to have my driver’s license photocopied, which made me extremely uncomfortable. The hotel staff then stated that if I did not allow my driver’s license to be photocopied, I would not be allowed to check in, and that the reservation was non-refundable. Under pressure, and feeling that my privacy was not being respected, I chose not to stay at the hotel and instead booked another hotel.
