Luxury safari tent with plunge pool, steps to Playa Matapalo

Glamping done properly, a few steps from Playa Matapalo on Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast. This luxury safari tent was shipped from South Africa and is built from four layers of canvas for strength, shade and comfort in the tropics, set in its own private garden.

THE SPACE
Two lockable bedrooms, each with a ceiling fan, mosquito net and its own sink. The main bedroom has a king bed and a safe. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a high twin bed. The open-concept living space has a fully equipped kitchen with induction stove, oven and microwave, and flows out onto the deck. The two bathrooms are open-air with hot-water showers under the tropical canopy. By design there is no air-conditioning, TV or washer/dryer.

OUTDOORS
A deep plunge pool is built into the deck. There is an outdoor kitchen and dining area, a hammock and sun loungers. Beach towels and chairs are provided for Playa Matapalo, a few steps away.

GOOD TO KNOW
Children under 10 are not permitted because the plunge pool is deep and unfenced. Wifi is provided, and free street parking is available. The property is fenced, with 24-hour on-site security. Linda or Flory, your local hosts, will welcome you personally on arrival and can arrange breakfast, tours, surf lessons, horseback riding and transfers with advance notice. Monkeys, macaws and sloths pass through often. Two restaurants and a small supermarket are about a 15-minute walk away. A car is recommended, as there is no public transport, and Manuel Antonio National Park is about 50 minutes by car. There are three tents on the property, so groups can ask about booking more than one.
