Great home near ocean

It was a great property near the ocean and bluff trails/ hiking trails. It is also located in the northern part of Sea Ranch, so it is close to town (Gualala)—just a beautiful home and location.

Idyllic stay

The property was just as advertised and a lovely getaway for us for two nights. The access to coastal walks was a breeze and gorgeous, and the proximity to what we wanted to e plots was exactly as described. The house is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and instructions were clear and precise. Thank you! We’ll be back!

Coastal perfection!

This was a perfect place to spend a few days in July! The weather was amazing and the walk along the bluff trail occupied most of our days. We saw so much wildlife! The house itself has beautiful architecture, spacious places to unwind and read/relax, and of course the hot tub. The beds were comfy with soft linens. About 4 minutes drive away there is Surf Market that supplies anything you could hope to cook. John was easy to communicate with and the check-in/check-out was well organized and easy to understand. We can’t wait to find a time to return!

Sea Ranch

The house is in a great location, just minutes from Gualala. It has a wonderful view of the ocean in the distance, and it was very peaceful and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay very much.

Perfect location

Loved our stay. We have been renting in Sea Ranch for over 40 years and this is our favorite! The location, short distance to the bluff and well maintained home made for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. The owner was friendly and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend Castlehaven!

Castle haven stay

Excellent location at the north end of The Sea Ranch. Convenient to golf course, trails, several beaches, Gualala businesses and river activities. Has a private ‘feel’ and is nicely appointed.

Spacious serene epic

Lovely Stay at Castlehaven

This was our second stay at Castlehaven, and once again, it did not disappoint. We loved the breathtaking views, the cozy and well-appointed furniture, the relaxing hot tub, and, most of all, the charming piano. Communication with the host was straightforward and flawless. As there was no moon during our stay, the stars put on a marvelous show each night too. Highly recommend.

Castlehaven is a slice of heaven

My husband and I, along with his sister and her husband just had a fabulous weekend at Castlehaven. The architecture of the home itself is quite unique. Add the perfect Sea Ranch location, two ensuite bedrooms in the house (there is also a third bedroom that we did not use), well equiped kitchen, hot tub -- all 5 minutes from the Bluff Trail, and it is truly a special place. Communication with our host was quite easy and check out a dream. We hope to return!

Peaceful Retreat

Great location just a few minutes from the bluff trail. Well equipped kitchen. New sofas and dining table. Easy check in and check out. Several outdoor seating areas, which we took advantage of as we had sunny weather.

Restorative Vacation - Great Location

We had a lovely vacation at this beautiful, spacious home. The location was fantastic - close to bluff trail, short drive to Del Mar pool, beach, nice kayaking spot, and Gualala for market trips and restaurants. The house itself was very comfortable with nice beds and pillows, great for cooking and dining in, relaxing inside while playing board games, watching wildlife from the window, and the hot tub was wonderful. Having a piano was a huge plus for the piano players in our family. Perfect vacation!

Great Location, Comfortable Beds

The location of this property makes it easy to access the bluff walking trail which is beautiful. The three bedrooms have very comfortable beds. The third bedroom is a detached studio space, not in the house itself. Kitchen is well appointed so we were able to cook all our meals easily. Hot tub is situated in the private patio which made it more comfortable and protected from the gusty winds.

Relaxing

We really enjoyed our stay at Castlehaven. The home is spacious, airy and comfortable. Nice to have a hot tub outside and a jetted tub inside. The Bluff Trail is close by so we did a lot of hiking. Played tennis at the Ohlson Rec Center. Can’t beat tennis with a view of the ocean! The golf course was very nice and uncrowded. The weather was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend Twofish Baking Co. The only negative was ants visiting the kitchen.

52nd Anniversary

Great location and loved being so close to town. The hot tub was super clean and so relaxing. While the fireplaces are not usable, the home has a GREAT heating system that made the home so comfortable even when cold and/or rainy outside. Loved having one of the master suites on the ground floor so there were no stairs to climb. Only stairs necessary were two from the ground floor to the living/dining area. Only disappointment was that the greatest window to use to watch the ocean waves seems to have a leak between the panels causing condensation and takes the beautiful view away. The host was wonderful to work with, even staying on the phone until he was sure we had access to the key to get into the house. Castlehaven will defintely be put on our list of homes to visit again.

Family getaway

Not our first time staying at Sea Ranch( not this property). Property was listed as available for 4nights on vrbo but after talking to John we had to chage our reservation for 3 nights coz new renters were coming and they had to prep property for the new family coming in. Third bedroom does not have separate bathroom and we had to leave front door open for person sleeping in the third bedroom to use bathroom at night. For some reason the power was out every morning and when it was restored took every single of our devices to reset with a password which is very long. I would suggest to create more easy password. View was ok but given people walking in front of back yard playing golf is something that you should be aware of. Barbecue grill did not have a gas so it took a trip to gualala to refill the propane tank(left it almost full for next guests) John was easy to comunicate. Overall a good area but north california coast is always beautiful. Gualala market in a close proximity is a plus.
