Stunning High Bank 3 BDRM w/ Ballroom on the Salish Sea
Escape to Forest Ledge, a beautiful, gated home on a private 3.6 acre high bank property on the Salish Sea. Inside you'll find a magical ballroom with a rock n roll history. It holds a 9 ft. Bosendorfer Grand Piano and theater pipe organ. The Ballroom and Banquet Room/Living Room open onto a tiered lawn overlooking the Salish Sea (also known as Puget Sound). With 3 bedrooms on two floors, and 2 bathrooms equipped with showers, and 2 powder rooms, this retreat is perfect for families or friends. This is a very unique home with a history to match (see below). Forest Ledge is a secluded, peaceful oasis. An amazing view of the Salish Sea and the Cascade Mountains awaits you. The property is forested, with Eagle Landing Park to the South.
The kitchen, designed as a catering kitchen, is large and fully appointed. There are two ovens (one is convection) and two dishwashers, plus 6 burner gas range and microwave.
The three bedrooms:
The Garden Room is a cozy room with bathroom en suite. You view the sunrise filtering through the trees, and our flower and herb garden.
The Cabin Room boasts a built-in bed which is situated right to windows which let in the breeze off of the Sound. There are inside windows which open onto the Ballroom.
The Balcony Room is a bright room. The light streams in through windows and French doors leading to the balcony and a gorgeous view of Puget Sound. The Cabin Room and the Balcony Room share a bathroom.
Forest Ledge is located 12 minutes from SeaTac Airport and 20 minutes from Downtown Seattle. There is plenty of parking on the grounds. The home is accessed down an 800 foot, tree-lined driveway. Forest Ledge is within walking distance of the Seahurst shopping area which is home to a coffee stand, salon, and mini mart, among other shops.
Forest Ledge was built by William Sprague, a successful merchant who outfitted adventurers heading to the Alaskan Gold Rush. He chose to build a summer home in Seahurst the the turn of the 20th century. The home was completed in 1919 and the family moved to the home on a more permanent basis.
Hollister Sprague, Williams son, was the first personal attorney for Bill Boeing, and a founding partner in the law firm of Perkins Coie. He is responsible for the guest side of the home, and addition that he started in 1929 and was completed in the mid-1930's.
In 2008, Sean Kinney, the drummer for Alice in Chains, bought the house which had fallen into disrepair. Alice in Chains, Guns and Roses, and many other well-known Seattle musicians gathered in the Ballroom to jam and party. He owned it until 2012 when the current owners purchased it from Kinney. The owners live onsite so if there is anything that you need, they are only steps away.
