「We had a wonderful stay at 1 Apse Castle Cottage — a beautiful, character-filled retreat nestled in peaceful woodland. The cottage is spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and full of charm, with a cozy log burner, luxurious bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen. Beds were super comfy, and everything felt welcoming and homely. The location is ideal for exploring Shanklin and the wider Isle of Wight. We especially appreciated how dog-friendly it was — our pup loved it! Truly a magical place. We’d...

「The house was lovely, spacious and airy and catered for our needs. The provision of fans was much appreciated in the current soaring temperatures! Our only slight niggle was that the garden didn’t reflect the photos as advertised, there was no BBQ and it wasn’t conducive to alfresco dining. If this could be attended to, it would be perfect. Thank you 」

「It was clean and fully equipped for family self-service stay. Thank you.
It would be nice to have an ensuite master bedroom (perhaps not applicable to this property now, but I will look out for one next time). Also, we would have preferred a lock on the master bedroom door. Otherwise, spot on!」

「A very nice apartment with excellent sea views. Lounge/dining furniture a little tired but functional. Everything very clean.Guest guide book was not updated for 2026. There was guidance provided to connect a smart TV to the internet and how to access Netflix etc but the actual TV provided was made in 2008 and predated these facilities! Tried to contact the host regarding access door key instructions but call not returned. It would have been useful to have had small waste bins in the bedrooms...

「extremely helpful and friendly staff. Lovely well laid out property with everything you need in great location. nice enclosed outdoor space which is a bit of a sun trap. plenty of nearby pubs and restaurants, and a 10 - 15 minute walk to the beach.
I'm afraid that feel that the check in system is a big let down and very much based on squeezing as much money as possible in a rather cynical manner from early check in costs. we all know that the entry time has crept up over the years to 4 o'clock...

Jan and her family have obviously worked hard to create this haven but clearly enjoyed thinking of every detail to make your stay fun and interesting, especially for young ones with lots of toys, books...
