The house was large, incredibly charming, with historical features with modern amenities. You can tell that it has been well taken care of over the years. The grounds of this house are amazing and photos do not show the huge backyard with walking paths through wildflowers, ample private backyard and front yard space to run and play and explore! It's also on a very quiet country road that you can walk down and it's safe. The setting was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the sunset over the mountains each day. The Avantstay team was very communicative and helped immediately with any problem we faced. We also appreciated that the house was pet friendly - its a great yard and house for dogs (and kids and adults of course).

Fall in the Berkshires

This is a lovely older home with lots of character, warm and inviting. Beautiful property and great views. We spent a fabulous weekend enjoying the fall beauty of the Berkshires.

NYE Holiday in Berkshires

Great old house with charming details and well equipped with modern conveniences. The views outside of the mountains and meadow next door were a nice bonus. Communication and attentiveness to any questions or issues were quickly taken care of. Overall a great trip!

Charming Farmhouse

We spent a lovely 2 weeks here. We had some septic issues that were remedied quickly. Overall, the house was comfortable and provided easy access to all the Berkshires have to offer.

Perfect Fall Getaway

My grown cousins, all friends, all with children decided to plan a weekend away together, just the moms. This charming house met all of our criteria and more. Very comfortable, lots of space, quiet, restful and just a wonderful getaway together. Great distance from a ton of ridiculously charming stores, book shops, coffee shops, etc. The checkout process was incredibly easy. Absolutely would book again, this place is a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy being in the Berkshires.

Family Vacation

The house is charming and spacious. With all the spaces available, there was plenty of room to accommodate my grandchildren playing with legos and adults sitting around and chatting. Everyone loved the Foosball table! Very comfortable home in a great location in the Berkshires. Big backyard but this year it was too full of mosquitoes to use.

Wedding Weekend

Location was perfect for activities at the Interlaken Inn. Kitchen had everything needed to cook and store food, which we find rare at other rentals. Bedding, pillows and towels seemed brand new. We appreciated having hand soap provided. Windows and doors didnt all lock, some were open when we arrived. Upstairs shower could not be used due to only a partial shower curtain, dishwasher was broken, we fixed on of the doors and the doorbell on it.spiders all over the main full batthroom. Running out of space here but we would stay at Whitney again. ..............bath, dohower could not be used withoutnsr

disappointing!

The property looked great in the pictures- sunny, spacious and clean. We had the exact opposite experience. There were lot of cobwebs, towels were not clean, the furniture is really old and there the whole house smells quite bad. Soe of the kitchen utensils are at least 30 years old! and most of the kitchen cabinets or the dressers were diffcult to open. It is also right off the road and so we had to be really careful with our dogs since the backyard or front yard has no fence. The doors did not work and the concierge services were extremely delayed or not helpful. Overall, i would not recommend this place.

Big country farmhouse

Overall the property was really good. There were a few things broken in the kitchen (fridge ran way too cold, oven ran way too hot, crisper drawers in fridge broken, top dishwasher rack broken) - but we learned to work with them. We had 9 people and we cooked a lot, including Thanksgiving dinner! Upstairs shower in clawfoot tub kind of sprayed water everywhere, leaving the bathroom soaked so we gave up and only used the shower on the first floor - kind of annoying for 9 people. And there were mice. The first night there we found seeds piled up in and around pillows in two of the bedrooms and then discovered mouse droppings in several rooms. We bought traps, caught three mice, reported it to AvantStay and they sent out an exterminator - but we continued to see droppings in new places all week, including kitchen. I didn't like communicating through AvantStay. I much prefer communicating directly with the property owners, as I've always done in the past. Every property has issues so I don't mean to complain so much. We had a great time together, the location was great - so much to do close by. But I would not stay in this house again.

First the pros. House was in a great location, excellent views and the house had ample space. Kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the dining room table. Plenty of bedrooms, clean sheets and the house was very clean as well. Grounds were beautiful too. Thankful that dogs were allowed too because not every place allows multiple ones. So great for pet lovers. Would give 5 stars but they need to address a few things. First I didn’t love that anyone can open the garage and that’s the initial way you have to get in. The breezeway door handle kept falling out and other reviews also mention the doors didn’t lock well and there are a million doors it seems. The sunroom was unusable because there was an open ripped screen with nails sticking out. It was too cold as there was not glass over the broken screen. Don’t expect to use the sunroom in the fall! It’s very dark at night and while there is a flashlight there were no batteries. We bought our own but we shouldn’t have had to do that. Finally The shower upstairs is unusable. No pressure. We couldn’t use it. Other reviews also mention this but it seems that the issue still remains. If these issues were fixed I would give 5 stars but it needs a little work. Overall though it’s a nice big house, if you are a bunch of people and dogs you can overlook the issues because again we were very grateful that we were able to take all of dogs. We were 3 couples, 3 kids and 4 dogs !!

Whitney - Great potential disappointing cleanliness and maintenance.

Over the years we have successfully rented at least 5 other properties. Unfortunately Whitney was a big disappointment due to things easily remedied by improving their cleaning and maintenance. Cleaning issues were primarily related to the kitchen and are as follows: Upon arrival the coffee maker had used grounds left in the filter. The garbage can to the right of the sink was completely full of trash. The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes. The oven had spilled food on the bottom resulting in smoke as it heated up to cook something. The refrigerator had crumbs etc inside. It obviously wasn’t cleaned. The cloth napkins were dirty. We used paper towels instead. A better option would be to supply paper napkins. The floor in the enclosed porch, was covered with dirt, leaves and twigs. Maintenance issues include the following: The Fujitsu remote for the first floor guest bedroom did not work. Upon investigation a leaking battery was discovered. The only option was to take a replacement battery out of one of the living room remotes. The second floor shower was useless due to very low water press and and ineffective water temperature control One of the door locks in the second floor bathroom kept falling out. It’s missing a screw or what’s there is the wrong size. Many of the window shades on the second floor are broken. The fireplace flue was open. We closed it. Also, the fireplace itself was overflowing with ashes. As someone is aware because there is a note, the main glass door between the laundry and living room couldn’t be used. Due to its primary location fixing it should be a priority. A kitchen knife was jutting out of the window lock in the kitchen to keep it shut with a note stating not to remove the knife. This looks like a simple repair. We hope these issues are addressed immediately so future tenants will have a better stay than we did. The house itself has lots of character and is located on a beautiful country road.
