The hotel was clean and well maintained for a vintage hotel. The staff was outstanding. They were polite and friendly. They gave excellent service. It was a 3 minute walk to the beach a great view of the sea. I enthusiastically recommend this establishment for short and extended stays. Thanks a million!

Excellent location and relatively modest price. Bedroom furniture was beyond dated though perfectly functional. Very irritating g policy of requiring any visitor to produce government ID and sign in.
Location was perfect for us; literally you can walk to restaurants, shops and the beach. The hotel has a restaurant with full bar downstairs. Rooms and bed are small but clean.
This hotel is right across the street from the beach with many restaurants and shops around it in the winding streets. The room was small but clean and the location made it worth it! Everyone was helpful and friendly. We rented a covered beach lounge chair for a day and that was so worth it! The water was amazing. We took a bus to the airport - make sure to get the exact location for the bus pickup as it was about a 15 min walk from the hotel and was a bench spot. We thoroughly enjoyed our final 2 days of our holiday relaxing here!
I’ll start with the positives, the location is super. Beachfront, beautiful looking hotel from the front.
The staff was all very friendly and pleasant.
Unfortunately this hotel needs modernising.
We’re regular visitors to the area and have stayed in far better hotels for half the price.
They are taking money but not putting it back into the hotel which is a shame.
It’s not a quaint hotel, it’s old and tired.
The cleaners in a morning couldn’t make anymore if they tried. The walls and doors are paper thin so it’s impossible sleep or lie in.
The electric buzzed all night long.
The smells from the bathroom was gross.
I could go on but I won’t.
Would not return.
The hotel is older but still very pretty. It was clean. Although there was some water damage around the shower enclosure. The closet was spacious. Although it is a smaller room(older buildings do tend to have smaller rooms) they had added some extra ledges to place your things on. Like over the head board of the bed, over the heat radiator, and over the desk. The location is good. Many people were enjoying sitting out front enjoying coffee and cocktails. Our frustration came with the parking. We had a rental car so when we saw there was parking on the hotel information, that was why we booked the one night stay before leaving for the airport the next day. It was 20€ to park. And it was 1.5km (if I remember correctly) away. Which isn’t far, that’s true. We had been driving for 9 hours that day and had to leave early in the morning so that just added some frustration. It was in a parking garage, which is nice. But it was no easy task getting down to level -2 level. I lost sleep worrying about whether we could even get out in the morning. Because if cars parked around us, I wasn’t sure we could get the car out of the tight space! Thankfully, no one parked too close and we got out. Again, the hotel was nice, staff was very helpful and friendly and it is a lovely location!
(We had a room that faced another building so we didn’t really enjoy the ocean view and we didn’t have time to sit out front for a meal)
ZERO STARS if I could.
I paid around $300 for one night at Hotel Celimar, and the condition of the room was absolutely unacceptable. I could not even stay the night.
When I got into the room, I found what appeared to be pubic hair in the bed/sheets and around the bed frame. That alone made me feel completely disgusted and uncomfortable sleeping there. On top of that, the air conditioning was not working, making the room even more unbearable.
For nearly $300, I expected a clean, sanitary, functional hotel room — not a room that made me question whether the bedding had even been properly cleaned before I arrived.
What made the situation even worse was trying to get a refund. Because I booked through Expedia, Expedia contacted the hotel regarding the refund and told me they needed approval from hotel management. Even though I was reporting what I considered a serious cleanliness and health-related issue, I was still stuck dealing with the property over reimbursement for a room I did not feel comfortable staying in.
I travel frequently and understand that hotels are not always perfect, but hair in the bedding and a broken AC are not minor inconveniences. Basic cleanliness should be the absolute minimum standard, especially at this price.
I left because I genuinely did not feel comfortable sleeping there. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had, and I would strongly recommend inspecting your room very carefully before settling in.
For $300, this
What a cool old building so close to the beach. It has a lot of character. I like staying in a hotel sometimes that isn’t overly modern and this place has an interesting vibe I loved.
I recently stayed at this hotel and was very disappointed with my experience.
The air conditioning in my room was extremely noisy and did not work properly, making it difficult to relax and sleep. There was also excessive noise from the cleaning staff early every morning.Another major issue was the room key card, which stopped working almost every day. I had to visit reception multiple times to have it reactivated. Staff blamed my phone, but I always left my phone in the room and never kept it near the card.I was also unhappy with how reception handled a brief visit from a friend who was staying at another hotel. He only came to use the bathroom, yet staff attempted to charge an additional fee and made the situation very uncomfortable and embarrassing.
In addition, the hotel entrance was locked after midnight, requiring guests to ring a bell and wait for someone to open the door.
Overall, this stay fell well below expectations. Due to the repeated issues and poor guest experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to others.

Location is the reason i stayed on the beachfront and that it was a historical building. It was a little expensive in terms of the smallest and basic rooms, tiny beds and problems with the toilet and elevator. However the staff were wonderful in trying to resolve my access key card that would continue not yo work, hence multiple trips up and down 3 levels of stairs. The beds were firm and the showers were hot and the mini fridge was cold. A very basic room with a nice window view that was slightly expensive. The bar cafe downstairs was extremely handy and the service was ok to forgetful which seemed to match their woes with the elevator, toilet cistern, card reader and efficiency. I would stay again as i understand a bad day/s can happen. Further i think the rooms need some decor updates to add some character, which externally is beautiful.
