Cozy little cottage right next to the beach that’s dog friendly and super comfy!

Will definitely stay here again. Adjacent to the beach, minutes from Newport Bay and Nye Beach. A little gem on the coast!

Perfect Oasis!

Perfect cottage

I enjoyed this little place so much. Waking up to a view of the ocean is one of my greatest joys. I found it perfect for a little getaway with my dog to the coast. Highly recommend for a chill, simple, place with taste. So few of these on the coast, honestly. The big clawfoot tub was a huge plus for me.

This was a cute little cottage with a semi-obstructed ocean view. We loved that we could hear the ocean from the deck but were very disappointed there were not screens on the doors so we could listen to the ocean sounds while inside the home. While it is a small home with maximum 3 guests allowed the parking situation was challenging. We were only allowed one vehicle, we had 2, and it required several turns in order to make it into the assigned driveway. The driveway is long and narrow and perpendicular to the roadway with a fence along one side and the house on the other. The home currently has an electric fireplace but previously had a wood burning stove. As a result the house has sustained significant interior smoke damage visible in every part of the home. The smoke damage is removable with water and a cloth but this has not been done. Additionally, there are several areas of damage to the walls, some needing repair while others simply need repainted. The entire home could use a few bits of maintenance, a fresh coat of paint and someone to care for it. That being said, we enjoyed our walk to the secluded beach down the private beach access stairs. We also found the neighbors to be quite friendly. We would not stay here again for the reasons listed. The company was notified and plans to correct these issues.

Sweet place and view

Love the fireplace and bummer that you can only do Duraflame logs and it makes sense. If you burn them closer to the front of the fireplace, it will smoke up the home and turn on the fire alarms, so burn them toward the back of the fireplace. The view is exquisite, seeing the ocean waves, from the western facing wall of the home. Easy self entry, great kitchen space, stove and microwave. Great communication with the host.

Short trip

Overall very nice. However beach access was non existent as advertised. Have to drive few miles instead of a short walk from the house to the beach. The refrigerator was ancient and freezer door terribly broken and not defrosted. Also hard to close refer door. Really needs a new refer. Needed better kitchen pot, pans, utensils, dishes.

Needs Some TLC

This quaint little place has been great - in the past - for our visits to South Beach. It’s convenient to family nearby and we’ve stayed here several times. Unfortunately, we won’t be staying here again unless the owners make an investment in fixing up the place. They’ve really let it decline. The listing photos are very out of date and don’t reflect the current state of the property. There are good attributes: beautiful ocean sounds, great water pressure, washer/dryer, WiFi. It also has a new fridge since our last visit and they’ve repaired the outlets and light switches. However, those pluses don’t make up for smoke-stained ceilings and walls, missing cabinet doors, non-working fireplace, spackle-laden bathroom walls, fogged patio windows (blown seals), missing towel rack, broken stove burner, dirty mini blinds, worn and torn living room chair (with slips on arms and seat), inadequate deck lighting, and more. In addition, there’s no longer a little welcome packet from Vacasa and the info about the secondary key box is inaccurate (wrong code). At about $200/night (with fees), there are better options in the area. This property would be a GEM with a little TLC: convert fireplace to gas; install flooring over the finished sub-flooring; update to efficiency kitchen; clean and paint ceilings and walls; replace sofa and chair; and ditch cable for a WiFi enabled TV. I can only hope Vacasa would encourage the property owner to spruce up this little cottage. It’s adorable and a great location. Sadly, we won’t stay again without some effort by the owners to make it worth visiting.

Simple reprieve by the ocean

This was a sweet last minute getaway for my little one and I to spend some quality time together. The price was feasible and the location convenient. Water pressure and heat were absolutely glorious and the bed so comfortable. I would love to stay here again, my only complaint would be the soot stains all over the walls and ceiling. Especially after a hot shower or bath, it really brought out the smell of smoke in the bathroom. Yes, it's close to the highway but once you're inside you can't hear it at all and the walk to the beach was quite short and fun. The place was equipped with just what we needed to enjoy some quality time together away from our busy lives. Can't wait to stay here again after it's been repainted!

This is a charming little cabin in a very quiet location even though it's only a block or so off the highway south of Newport. It's clean, nicely furnished, and very comfortable for two people. We really liked the deck with the view of the ocean around and through the neighbor's house (lots of windows) between the cabin and the beach. There is access to the beach, if a little roundabout, and while it's a bit intimidating, it's reasonably sturdy if you just take your time. And it's worth it - the beach is beautiful! The only suggestions I have are to replace the washcloths that are unraveling on the edges and, if the renter is not bringing a dog, please use non-stained sheets on the bed. The fitted sheet was clean, but had a couple of stains on it that I wouldn't use for company in my own house. Overall, this cabin is a find and we'll definitely keep it on the list for a future visit! It was a great King Tide getaway!

Jankiest Place We Ever Stayed!

Lots of things that didn't work or were broken. Patches all over the walls where they put putty in holes. Pots and pans were so bad - old & nonstick material half off. Silverware was a pile of nonmatching thin thin steel. Gross curtain barely covered under the sink where they left raid & ant killer (don't bring young children) Thin drapes made it hard to sleep with neighbors front lights on. Front lock was the worst - had to struggle constantly to get it to open. Don't bring a pet - no place for them to go since it's basically a driveway and a house away from the 101. Worse thing is that Vacaca has no customer service. You call them and they defer to "local staff" and say they will get back to us after local staff responds. First time, half a day passed before they got back to us and said local staff would come out and put away the poisons and take away the wobbly cheap lamps. We declined because really, we were there to relax and it was raining so were not going to be out of the house for someone to be coming in. They shouldn't rent places like this. Second time, I contact them because there was no stopper for the bathtub. Jeanne from local staff texted that they would be out tomorrow. I texted back, "We are leaving tomorrow!". Jeanne never responded. So, I had to bring it up with main "customer service" line who said they would look into and never got back to me. Why exactly do they have such high host fees compared to others? Beware of Vacaca rentals!!!
