We recently stayed at the Dolphin House condo in South Padre Island and had mixed feelings about our experience. The exterior and interior is stunning. The interior was very clean and well decorated. It was clear that attention had been given to guest comfort, and we truly appreciated the aesthetic and layout of the space.
The location was also a highlight. The home is within walking distance to Beach Access #9, which was very convenient for us. Just a note to future guests: parking at this beach access point is limited, so walking is definitely the better option.
That said, there were some issues that unfortunately affected our stay. When we arrived, the pool was not usable.
It had visible algae and the pump was not functioning. It wasn’t serviced until the next day, and while it was, the strong chemical smell made us uneasy about letting our one-year-old swim. Some guest tried to get in but it was uncomfortable. Additionally, the fire alarms in the home went off repeatedly on both Friday and Saturday. The noise was distressing for our child, and at one point, in the middle of cooking Sunday breakfast, leave the property.
We also reached out to customer service regarding these issues and requested a credit for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, the response was dismissive and unhelpful, which added to our frustration.
With better attention to property maintenance and guest support, this could have been a much more enjoyable stay and easily a five star experience.
