“La Casita de Dragonfly" (The Dragonfly Cottage)
Relax in this calm, stylish space on the Chesapeake Bay, one block from private community Calvert beach. Enjoy walking along the beach, and finding shells, shark teeth, and even fossils.

The entrance area to the Calvert beach on the Chesapeake Bay is right beside the Matoaka beach area. So when you hit the beach if you walk right for a mile and a half is Calvert beach (which is only for the community residents and their guest only) and if you walk to the left going north, you’re on Matoaka beach and the scientific Cliffs.

Sorry for any inconvenience but NO animals what so ever due to owner's severe allergies!

Felt like a secret spot..
Before we arrived we got word that there was a mixup and there wouldn’t be anyone to clean until after arrival. When the cleaning person got there she was extremely quick and efficient and so friendly. The owners gave us a refund for the trouble, which is the only reason why I even bring this up. They were so so kind and communicated so quickly… absolutely wonderful! The house is a cute 2b/2b nestled in a very quiet neighborhood. It’s very homey and our 3 year old absolutely adored it (as did we). I have never seen her so excited until we got to the beach! It’s a very short distance from the house and it was just us both days there. We didn’t find any fossils but we saw jellyfish and crabs and lovely birds and thousands of shells! The water was a great temp and the best for going in on our second day out. I can’t stress enough how relaxing and recharging this stay was for us. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay.

Wouldn’t go again
Check in was smooth, location was great. Upon entering the house, it was around 90 degrees inside and there was an overwhelming stench that we investigated and deduced to possibly being burnt popcorn. Upon unloading groceries, we found ants all over the counter, stovetop and sink. There was sand on the floors in the living room area and bedrooms, there was pubic hair in the shower in the master bedroom, left over food in the fridge and expired food in the pastry “for guest use”. During the relaxing stay, on our last afternoon, we noticed a woman and baby in the backyard. We asked if we could help her and she was extremely rude, told us to contact the property manager because they were there to mow the yard. The woman then proceeded to changed her baby’s diaper on the outdoor picnic table we were going to eat at. We didn’t know about the second person there to mow until we had our interaction with her. There were zero trash bags in order to take out the trash and there was no cleaning checklist prior to checkout for guests to avoid extra cleaning fees. It was a lovely home, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

Surprise, there's a beach right there!
House is cute, clean, and tidy. Just as pictured. Good sized kitchen, good selection of pots and pans. Pantry even had cereal and some other food available. Beach is indeed a short walk away. It's a narrow beach, but there's enough room to set up a chair or towel. Plus it's private, so people are well spaced out. I was there on a Summer weekday and saw only 2 other families. Even though house is close to beach, don't expect to see the beach. It's on a quiet road, with other similar houses on one side of the street, then lush green trees on the other side.

Perfect place for Calvert beaches
We had a great weekend stay at the Casita! It was spotless and comfortable, a two minute walk from the beach, exactly as described. We’ll stay there again the next time we visit the area!

Great stay
House was clean comfortable in a quiet neighborhood. Good location- very short walk to the bay and about 15 min drive to Prince Frederick. Kitchen included everything you may need. The internet worked great to stream movies and TV. Lots of DVD's too.
