Alan and Brenda Lockhart planted a vineyard and started making wine in their kitchen about 10 years ago. After Alan started entering wine competitions and winning bronze, silver, gold and double gold awards, it became clear that he had talent; so they began making plans for a winery. Seven years later it came to fruition.

On May 23, 2016 Hartland Winery and Vineyard opened on three acres of land south of Ashley, Indiana. Their mission is to produce "small batches and handcrafted" wines to bring you a unique and pleasing, wider variety of wines that are at their peak of flavor and freshness.

“Yes we thank you so much for allowing us to have our dog with us. He is much needed for my anxiety attacks! We tried to clean up after ourselves as much as possible. Appreciate cleanliness and the soft towels and the washer and dryer world Plus. Won't hesitate to stay again. I could address fixing a couple things but didn't bother our stay. “Serene! We had an absolutely lovely time. The cottage is cute and cozy and was spaced out to fit 5 guests surprisingly well. The lake was so calm and beautiful, hardly any boats, and lots of wildlife to see. Christin was a marvelous host; she was very speedy with all responses, and super accommodating. ”

The pictures show the lake cottage charm well, but we had no idea how many updated, modern features the cottage would have.
