Extra perks include a covered porch and an enclosed outside shower with hot and cold water plus a dressing area.

The Unexpected
The first day we got there we noticed the place looked dirty, especially the sheets. The TV only worked for 1 day and we did not expect the owners of the house to be upstairs and us to be downstairs hearing them all week. As the week went on we found numerous cockroaches everywhere and everyday in the house. The final straw was a giant cockroach crawling along the wall. This caused us to leave our vacation a day early. We will not be renting here again, nor do we recommend it.

Historic but needs a little modern
The property was just as advertised. Right on the beach, cozy and has a great history if you read the book on the shelf. It is one of the few original pre-Hazel houses. Great house in a beautiful area for a great price. However, I would suggest some new cushions on the chairs and couch as well as the bedroom closest to the beach to use a queen bed so two people could sleep in one room comfortably. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Cockroaches!!
The first night my sister and I were there we saw a few small cockroaches. I was assured that they were coming out to die after the last spraying… Our first full day when we arrived back that evening there a bunch of them all over the place! It took us over an hour to kill all that we found, (as they kept turning up)! We sprayed all over several times with a spray we made with peppermint oil, hoping that would help. I called the after hours number to report this and was told that someone would get with me first thing in the morning the next morning we were still seeing some bugs and hadn’t heard from anyone yet, so I called the local number at about 9:45 AM. Maintenance personnel met exterminator at the house, and reported that they could not find any bug activity. We were told that it was from being sprayed, and these bugs were coming out to die, and all the years that I have been renting houses at the beach and all the years that I have lived in North Carolina I have never run across anything like this before, I feel that I should be refunded all or at least part of my money as I was told that the problem was taken care of befor I rented the place! Unacceptable!

Nice place
Loved that is was on the beach, you have to go up on upper level deck to see ocean. I'm guessing owner uses top of house. The apartment was small clean but furniture was really old!!! The TV was tiny. Kitchen has what you need for meal preparation. We would stay again especially if sofa was replaced (it looks really dirty) because price is good.

Great location
You can't beat the price for location. We did, however see a few bugs inside. It was not nasty, but could have been a bit cleaner. Beds were very uncomfortable.

Location and beach are wonderful!
The first two days of our trip were nice, however the weather was nice. The furniture was outdated and uncomfortable, along with some unstable boards on the upper level porch. Once it started to rain, there was a roof leak that lead to a terrible downpour on the inside of the first room. Causing all belongs to be soaked and two people to sleep on a couch. During the rainstorm a bed bug was also found inside the room. Do not recommend until updates are done to properly and it has been treated. No one has reached out in regards to our terrible situation to try to refund or resolve any situation.
