Come to Knob View Retreat and enjoy a relaxing vacation in this beautiful home with beautiful views out every window. The home has 3 bedroom suites, each with private ensuite bath and closet, perfect for the extended family or couples who enjoy vacationing together. Two of the suites have direct access to a covered porch to enjoy the refreshing mountain air and views of those glorious sunsets. There is also a large hot tub on the deck with mountain views. The hot tub is professionally maintained weekly by Hot Tub & Spa Specialists of Hot Springs.

The house is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains at 2900 feet elevation within a small mountain community containing only 7 houses on 70 acres. Privacy abounds and so does the wildlife.

Enjoy a relaxing stay on the porch or drive just 12 miles to downtown Asheville and enjoy shopping and restaurants in the 'Paris of the South'. The town of Black Mountain is just 9 miles to the East. Spend a day at the Biltmore Estate (13 miles) or go hiking on any of the miles of trails just minutes away. Want to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway? An entrance is just 10 minutes away.

Our house has beds to accommodate 6 adults or combination of adults and children totaling 6 people. With advance notice we can arrange for a crib or pack and play. No more than 6 people.


We have 4 security cameras as recommended by our Insurance Co. These are exterior cameras only and there are no interior cameras whatsoever. We have 2 ARLO cameras monitoring the parking area and 1 Arlo doorbell camera. (It allows guests to quickly contact us if they have difficulty entering the property upon arrival). There is a 4th camera mounted under the deck that monitors the side door entering the garage.

Clean, Comfortable, and Great Location

We had a great stay here—everything was just as advertised. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and check-in was smooth and easy. The location was ideal—close to restaurants and walkable to downtown, but still quiet at night. The staff was friendly and responsive when we had a quick question about parking. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to others looking for a relaxing and convenient place to stay.

Perfect Mountain Retreat

This is a great secluded spot with wonderful mountain views. Home is in excellent condition and very comfortable. Great outdoor areas for relaxing and taking in the views.

Brewery weekend

As always the property was perfect for our base of operations. Perfect for 3 couples. Close enough to all breweries yet far enough out for quiet time in between brewery trips. The hot tub was great each evening after spending time around Asheville. The hosts were great as always.

Wedding day stay!

Mountain Getaway

Our family needed some down time after a busy year and even busier holiday season. The house was a perfect retreat for us! Not only did we enjoy the amazing views, comfortable beds, hot tub and every amenity you could hope for, but ease of access to all Asheville has to offer was great, too. Heavenly views

Two couples celebrating our anniversaries. We drank wine and watched the sunset every night !! Asheville and Black Mountain offered great shopping, restaurants and activities. Loved it!!

Loved the house and location. Well appointed and CLEAN! Perfect for three couples - each had a bedroom and a private bath. Hottub was great in the evenings! We will return in warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor areas further!!!

Brewery Weekend

This house was perfect for our needs. Very well appointed and had everything we needed for a great weekend. Easy trip into Asheville and very welcoming after busy days visiting breweries. We got to see a couple of bears on our way up to the house. Hot Tub was wonderful to soak the muscles after a lot of walking around Asheville. We will definitely come back here next year.

An amazing retreat

This mountain home has it all. Along with the amazing view and hot tub, Steve really thought of everything. He had a complimentary bottle of wine, space to store our food materials, 3 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, and a really cozy gas fireplace. Everything about this house was amazing. It was so quiet and peaceful- it is by far the best home I’ve ever stayed in.

Spectacular Views and So Peaceful

No need to leave the house. The home amenities can keep you happy for your entire stay. We enjoyed cooking, playing ping pong, board games and the hot tub with its own panoramic view of the mountains. It was a wonderful opportunity to make special memories with our family. Amazing Birthday Weekend

This property was absolutely perfect for my friends and me. The location was great. The views from the porch and hot tub were breathtaking. The house was beautiful, clean, and perfectly stocked. Perfect Get-Away to the Mountains

This is the very best of the best place to unwind and relax or get moving with many places to see. The view from the house/deck is extraordinary and we didn’t want to leave. We did hike some mountain trails and spend some time appreciating Asheville downtown.The house host, Steve, was within immediate contact and made the house feel just like home with everything we needed. You must come see this! In awe!!

Family Christmas

Great weekend with our young adult children to gather for Christmas! Amazing views of the mountains. Loved that it is private and secluded yet close enough to enjoy the Biltmore, Asheville and the cute town of Black Mountain. Was decorated nicely with a tree and Christmas garland/lights. We did lots of cooking and baking and loved how the kitchen had all that we needed and more! Owners have gone above and beyond to provide all that you could possibly need. Highly recommend this property!

Mountain Top Heaven

This was the most comfortable, clean and beautiful home we have ever rented. The owners paid attention to even the tiniest details that made our stay fantastic. The beds are all extremely comfortable with lots of pillows to choose from. Asheville is fun and there are other small towns close by like Black Mountain that are great for shopping and dining. The golden sunsets against the mountains were breathtaking. We enjoyed the views from the hot tub every day. I wanted a peaceful vacation where I could snuggle by a fire, read, and be cozy with my family and this home was perfect. We can’t wait to return!

Everything you're reading about this home is true. Every room is well appointed. Quality linens on the beds and comfortable furniture in every room, including the deck. Thoughtful artwork and decor. The hosts have furnished this home as if for themselves, not "the rental house". The setting is breathtaking. If you're having difficulty deciding between this house and another one... pick this one.

Dream Home!

This house is a dream! This was a girls trip to celebrate a 60th birthday and we could not have been happier. It has everything that you could possibly need. The kitchen is so well stocked and organized. So many amenities, very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect and the view from the deck is unbelievable. We came back to the home each evening to watch the sunset and use the hot tub while enjoying a glass of wine. Our host Steve was amazing! He was quick to respond to questions and all of his recommendations were spot on! We highly recommend this home!

Perfect mountain home

Knobview Retreat is the nicest home we have ever rented. It is not only beautiful and spotlessly clean with amazing views, the hosts have provided so many little comforts like good bedding, a fully equipped kitchen, a grill, hot tub, games, a full spice cupboard, laundry room…I could go on and on. Communication with Steve was outstanding. The photos just don’t do this home justice, it is so lovely and light filled. We are glad we brought our 4Runner to navigate the road to the house, it is very steep but we mastered it and even saw the neighborhood bear a few times. This was a wonderful place to call home during our time in western NC.

Mountain Getaway

We could not have asked for anything more during our stay at the house. The hosts have thought of everything, from baby/kid equipment to binoculars to flashlights by the bedsides, and they have even labeled all the light switches. The views are grand, the hot tub was hot, and we enjoyed playing family ping pong in the driveway. It does take ~12-15 minutes to get to a main road and the house is off of a dirt road, so we only left once a day to enjoy the surrounding areas (AVL 20-30 min away) and took our time driving into and leaving the house. Truly, not a bad thing to say about this place when you want to get away from it all!

Summer Family Vacation

We had a great time at this property. It was even more beautiful in person! The Mountain views each morning and evening were incredible and left us asking whether we should go out for a hike or just enjoy the views from the deck. We loved getting away from the Florida heat this summer. We had our 10-year-old daughter and 17-year-old son and there was something for all of us to do and enjoy our time together, from playing ping-pong to exploring biking, hiking and river tubing activities nearby. We also enjoyed home-cooked meals together in the evenings and playing some of our favorite board games with a beautiful background. When the time was up, we didn’t wanna leave and I’m sure that we will be back. If you are considering booking - DO IT!!

Breathtaking, Immersive Mountain Views with All En-suites

Our Super Hosts’ meticulous attention to detail meant more kitchen, bath, deck (hot tub, lots of seating), and whole house amenities than any other property where we have stayed. Heaven seems to touch earth right off the balconies of this house, very high in the mountains and very orivate. Local bear sightings, and some outside the house, but we safely kept our distance and enjoyed them. We stayed here in Swannanoa and made the short drive to Asheville, Black Mountain, and stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway. An all-wheel drive vehicle is very helpful to navigate the stone-covered drive up this gorgeous mountain. We stayed here 6 years ago and traveled over 850 miles to return— the views are THAT GOOD! Unique that all 3 bedrooms (one downstairs) have their own en suite. A rare gem of a property. Enjoy!
