Although it's an old building and not as dressed up" as other places the room was perfect the staff extremely friendly and accommodating the manager or owner I spoke to was an absolute gem.

The room had very poor sound approve therefore is very noise that I can’t rest. Bathroom ceiling has dusty and rubbish under the basin cabinet.

Central location was great but thats were the good ended. Arrived late afternoon and given the only remaining room on first floor, not an issue in itself except for the room being filthy. Balcony had syringe, dirty towel and clothing that looked to have been there for weeks. Windows and sliding door were also dirty with what looked like blood splatter near the syringe. Broken sliding door handle, not great safety for first floor. Grime on table, floors and bench tops. Kitchen tap completely detached and had to be held in place. No sink plug to allow washing up. Broken lights, litter under lounges, partly used drink bottles left in drawers. We were told that there was no way to change rooms so we had to purchase our own cleaning and disinfectant to make to room liveable. Took photos of all issues. Just very unpleasant so our family spent as little time here as possible. We were offered another room the following day but we weren't prepared to do their cleaning again for them. Other accommodation was found later.

Great value for such a good location

Fantastic location. Literally 30 seconds from the Wynyard train station with loads of food options nearby. The outside of the hotel is very dated but the rooms were very comfortable with lots of space and a great kitchen. Would recommend asking for a room on a higher level as the noise overnight was quite loud.

Property was central to CBD and public transport, easy walking to bars & restaurants; apartment was large, clean and well-equipped. Good communication with reception/management re: changed hours at front desk & check-in over Easter weekend. Old lifts were a little scary to ride in though.

The cleanliness was outstanding. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Being in the middle of the city there was a bit of noise but it was not disturbing. Beds were so comfortable. Highly recommended

Very friendly front desk person but this place is horrible. So run down, risk your life in the old elevator, rooms depressing and unclean, very dusty room you can see years of dust built up on window sills and on everything. The bathroom was ok, but everything else horrible. SO loud at all times as the whole place vibrates with traffic noise from trucks / busses. Can’t even drown out the sound with a TV as none in the bedroom. I had to stay somewhere else, suspicious that this has 4.1 rating, so misleading. Sorry but truth needs to be told for others. Location is good

The staff were very helpful and the accommodation was very generous and well priced. Checking in on a Sunday was a bit tricky as the front desk isn't staffed on Sunday afternoon. But communication was easy to rectify this.

They tried, but the place is filthy

The rooms have been renovated on a budget and it shows. The main bedroom window was full of cracks and is not sound/weather proof. The second bedroom windows have layers of double sided tape to keep them sealed. The balcony is a selling feature but have no furniture to sit on and the railings are perished and failling apart. Receptionust was lovely and friendly. If i had paid the full asking price i would have been angry. At the discounted rate you can get better value else where. Sadly the cleanliness is lacking and the external noise is horrible. Sydney CBD has become very dirty which was disappointing and make it feel like an unsafe area. In all honesty i left within a few hours of arriving and found another hotel for my trip. I would suggest avoiding this place. I see it is listed as 4 star on here due to ammenities. In reality there are nicer 1 star motels around.

Enjoyable stay at Madison

Totally excellent quality apartment at this price point. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Reception/management (Dovile) also better than excellent. She is very friendly and helpful, very good communication. Wynyard station and supermarkets very close by.

While a lot of Aussie hotels don't have front-desk staff, Madison Carrington has Dovile, an attentive manager who offers a nice East European touch to this boutique hotel. I owe her a lot for making me feel settled and safe during my long stay waiting out the pandemic.
