New Plymouth Taranaki Cathedral Hotels

"Great location across the street from the costal walkway where you can catch beautiful sunsets over the ocean. The hotel is an older property that’s been well maintained. But the star attraction has to be Salt restaurant where the manager Ramesh and his culinary staff offer meals cooked to a high standard far beyond what you expect from a small hotel. If you like lamb you must try their signature dish lamb a toru (3 cuts of lamb). If you’re a traditionalist their English big breakfast is cooked to perfection with quality ingredients (although I’m not a fan of the cibatta under fried eggs which gets soggy). The rooms are well appointed lacking only a safe and there’s even a separate tub and shower. Many of the electrical outlets are down by the baseboards rather than at table top level and in my room the outlets by the bed didn’t seem to work. "

"Without cell phone service (only data), check in was very challenging. We knocked until the manager came to the door. Room was large and kitchen has most of what was needed. Shower configuration was undesirable. The shower curtain did not go to the floor and made the bathroom floor all wet. Room a bit noisy because it’s on the corner of two very busy streets. Parking was included and easy. "

"Great location to explore NP and beautifully appointed. Loved the access to the gym around the corner. I thought it might be noisy being so central but didn’t hear a peep. Hope to return. "

"This is a lovely hotel in a great location. Right near the coastal walkway and walking distance to the park. Our suite was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need. If you need to park a vehicle it's a good idea to reserve a spot ahead of time. We didn't, but luckily there were two spots left. Lastly, Janine at reception is an absolute gem!"
