We traveled to Franklin, IN for the solar eclipse as did many others and opted to stay at the Red Roof Inn simply because it was the least expensive of all the lodging options in the area and I couldn’t stomach paying $500-600 for a single nights lodging elsewhere. That said, I expected to get what we paid for. The room itself was minimally stocked with towels, washcloths, etc. and offered little else. It looked like it hadn’t been updated in about 15 years or more. The linens on the bed had a funky smell and required me to spray my husband’s cologne on them just so I could get past it and fall asleep. I was hesitant to walk on the floors without my shoes on. However despite the less than ideal room conditions, the bed was amazingly comfortable!

No hand rails on either side of the only 2, very steep, wooden plank steps to the second floor rooms. I have never seen any stairs without hand rails in this modern safety era of OSHA. I do not believe their stairs are legal! I will never stay here again!

The Red Roof Inn was "nothing fancy" but it was perfect for my purposes. The check in person was friendly and helpful, recommended the restaurant next door which was reasonable and excellent. My dog was welcome too - hospitality staff was friendly. Room was clean, location convenient.

The front desk gentlemen. Actually stayed in the room next to ours. Kept asking friends during the eclipse if they were staying in our room. Actually took 50.00 after check out when clearly we cleaned the room stripped the beds took out trash to make sure it was clean. Room was just not been up kept had a musty smell beds were uncomfortable staff was rude very nosey and stopped and watched up unload the car. Watching my kids and staying in the room next to ours in the dark i was very creeped out by this man's and his staff behavior. It was only place not sold out during the eclipse and now i see why. But stealing 50.00 from me by knowing there was no damage or anything done to that room was a low move especially when we just spent 700.00 with you!! I pray for people like you 🙏

The well lit parking lot and huge grassy area for walking the dog, clean bedding but floor hadn't seen a wet mop in a long time. Only second floor rooms available and it is awful when 75, heart problem, luggage and small dog to deal with. No other rooms available in the area. Otherwise I'd stay again.

The place was very clean...but I kept occasionally seeing a few bugs flying around. Not sure if they were gnats or what? Other than that...it was very quiet and clean. Not crazy about "memory foam" mattresses. I felt like I was sleeping on a sand bag. The pillows (as always) were horrible. Thank God I thought to bring my own pillow from home.

I believe this place to be one of the best hotels around. I have not stayed at any other Red Roof Inns, but this one in Taylorsville, IN is a great place to stay weather you are traveling alone, with your friend, or on a family trip.

The property and room was basic but nice. However, I specifically stated "Must have 1st floor". I was given a 2nd floor room without an elevator. The check in person said they didn't have any 1st floor rooms available. I should have been notified of their inability to meet my instructions in time to cancel my reservation without being charged.

Okay but you should of payed extra for nicer hotel
Our room was okay, had a slight odor to it. Also bed had burn spots all over the covers. Sink was kind of faulty. Police happened to stop me and my daughter on our way out to get food because of some other people staying there. Overall not bad for a quick room. Beds are not COMFORTABLE at all! Cool for one night but dont see myself going back there!
