At 5am, we're hiking up to the summit of Acatenango, we're exhausted, our foot sinks a couple centimetres each step we take, the wind is absolutely freezing, and we're 3900m high. But you know what, it's totally worth it for the sunrise.
We were the only people on Volcán Acatenango camping the night. The moon was shining right above us, while flashes of lightning were striking below at cloud level. The fog cleared up and we could feel the ground rumbling. All of a sudden, a red plume appears and Volcán Fuego is spewing lava like there's no tomorrow.
