Climb up the steps near the north gate and walk on the old city walls for a bit. Watch out for the softer areas.

Another tall thin minaret in #Khiva.
There are 218 wooden pillars in the Djuma mosque. The name actually means Friday mosque. It dates back to the end of the 18th century.
The wall tiles are invariably in the cool blues range, while the ceilings were often in the warm colour ranges. These ones are at the Tash-Khovli Palace. The alcoves are deliciously cool even on hot days because they have high ceilings opened to the north winds. I think this particular alcove (aivan) was one for one of the important ladies of the harem.
