A decent hotel

Overall the hotel was decent and the staff is really helpful. What they lack in terms of establishment, they make up for it with their service team. We had breakfast and dinner and it was decent.

Fantastic stay at Marine Palace Hotel

Fantastic staff, Fantastic location, Fantastic food Manager Harrie and staff arranged our pick up at Trivandrum Airport and transfer to the Hotel Marine Palace. They also arranged all our trips and tours with private air conditioned car and driver guide. We visited Temple Elephant parades, Tea Plantations, A trip to the tip of India where the Oceons meet and a spectacular boat trip in the Back Waters all recommended by staff. The hotel public areas and our rooms were spotlessly clean and my room was spacious with fine shower suite and access to a veranda overlooking the Arabian Sea and beautiful sandy beach. Location was central for lots of shops and restaurants but also quiet and peaceful. Can’t thank staff enough, they looked after us very well. Harrie booked or train for our onward journey to Kochi and was there at the station when we arrived by taxie. He accompanied us to our train carriage and ensured all was good for us and we knew where to go when we arrived at Kochi for our further stay there. We will defiantly be back and HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS HOTEL TO OTHERS.

Friendly staff, good location.

From the outset the staff were exceptionally friendly and we knew they would always do what they could to help. The room was comfortable and clean. One thing which surprised us was that they asked us each morning whether we wanted the room cleaned, at first we thought it was charged extra, but it wasn't and they did a good job. The hotel is not on the main beach-front which is both good and bad. Obviously the view was not quite as good, although we could see the sea. But it also meant we did not get the awful, loud karaoke from the big events at the other end of lighthouse beach.

ここのレストランはケーララ州の禁酒法下でのライセンスを持っている。そのうえ合法、非合法を問わずビール大瓶1本、200ルピーが他のレストランや他の地域の相場であっが、このホテルは140ルピーと安い。そのため地元インド人も朝昼晩と何人も途切れることなくビールを飲みにくる客がいた。 今回旅行でこのホテルは唯一、蚊が入ってきた。バストイレ室の換気扇の外または内側に防護網がないからだ。夜寝るときはバストイレ室のドアを確実に閉めて寝た。 プールにはデッキチェアも何脚かあり、毎朝消毒もしているので安心できる。マネージャーも親切であった。ただ、宿泊条件を見落としたのか、他のホテルはすべて朝食込みであったが、このホテルは別料金であった。

Basic Hotel close to the beach and restaurants

The hotel was basic but very clean and tidy. Clean sheets and towels every day. Room cleaned every day. Bed very comfortable and Air Con and Fan in every room. Staff very friendly and helpful when my husband fell ill one night. Would recommend to anyone wanting just basic hotel room. Breakfast very good but dining room a bit dingy. It is situated in the mainly Indian part of Lighthouse Beach and although very busy with Indian tourists at Christmas and New Year absolutely no problems. Excellent service by Hotel staff.

Worst hotel I've stayed in

One of the worst hotels I've stayed in. Cramped room, outdated furniture,dirty linens. No wi-fi in the room and lack of car parking space. Only one word for this hotel -- AVOID

Comfortable Hotel near to the amenities.

Hotel staff welcoming and helpful. Pool area and approach needed a bit more looking after but overall a good stay. The food was very good and reasonable.

Lovely staff but hard bed

The staff were lovely and helpful but the bed was very very hard and uncomfortable. Fridge didn't work,the light by the bed didn't work,no tea or coffee making facilities. Wifi only accessible in the lobby.

Whilst the hotel was typical of Indian standards we were unable to use the pool as it was so dirty.

The hotel is currently under construction. Currently, no lift. If you have aged persons and a third floor room, you are in soup! Otherwise, hotel stuffs are nice and the room cleanliness is OK . Toilet is nice and clean and that's why I liked this hotel. Location wise is also very close to the beach.

the hotel is superb wrt its location.just a walk away from beach .it is maintained quite nicely. the add of hotel is nt right...it says vizhijam..whereas it should be only kovalam beach.

Marine Palace Hotel in Kovalam for all the noise

Main problem was lack of hot water most of the time, though in the hot climate that was less of a difficulty. The central situation makes it vary noisy, at least in the room where I was, facing the busy road, and the temple, with a lot of music, singing and drumming being broadcast by loudspeakers, starting early morning. My last night was to be a special festival there, and the noise was to go on all night, but forftunately I left at 2 am. for my flight.

Genau über die Strasse vom Hotel ist ein Shiva-Tempel, der einen um 5:30h mit lärmender Musik weckt. Während meines Aufenthalts hat die Hotelleitung mich einfach in ein anderes Zimmer verfrachet und dazu in meiner Abwesenheit all meine Sachen umgezogen.

Hotel Marina Palace

The is not a star hotel,which was supposed to be 3 star. They first provided me a room which has very small wash room, A.C. non functional, TV not functional. Only after they changed the room after complain it was comfortable to a extent only.

Ganska fräscht hotell med bra personal men med några negativa detaljer: inget varmvatten; granne med ett Shiva-tempel som har mycket ljudliga mässor vid soluppgång (problemet) och solnedgång. Kovalam i allmänhet är mer av en byggarbetsplats fyllt med mycket påträngande försäljare. Sopor lite här och var och soptipp längs en av bakgatorna. Det kanske är Indien och bara att acceptera. Men jag tror att turistorten skulle vinna på att reglera gatuförsäljningen; tiggeri och sophanteringen.
