The Lil Red Cabin

Great environment nestled in Nicollet National Forest. So peaceful and gorgeous scenery. Quick access to town. Great biking, hiking and fishing.

The porch was very nice for coffee in the morning and if it was raining, the fire pit was nice for night time fires. And a nice pier to tie your boat up.

Great little cabin

Great little cabin. Only downside was that the netflix stopped half way through the week and 2 mice got into the kitchen. A small fan in the main bedroom would be nice.

First, the cabin is tiny... even for 2 people. It's very sweet, nicely taken care of, well-decorated, comfortable, and very clean. On a rainy day, with 2 labs, it's dirty in minutes, hard to keep clean because the outside is all dirt with little grass. And yes, there's a mouse! It said hello the first night. They brought in more mouse detox so we never saw it again, but it's somewhere. They didn't take it away. We weren't thrilled and slept with the lights on the entire week. Thankfully we have dogs to keep it at bay. You're on top of one another the entire time. Little room to take your stuff out, but with a mouse, we stayed packed the entire week. The outside isn't great. We own a boat and hit a sandbar right off the dock the first day - would be nice to have that marked by the locals. They know it's there and drive around it. The entire bay is weeds so no fishing from the dock in August. There's an open firepit that's decent. Neighbors aren't close, so it's quiet. Lots of positives and not-so-positives.

Little Red Cottage

When we arrived it was quite evident that there were mice present. I am not sure if the cottage was cleaned before our arrival, but there were mice droppings everywhere. When you closed the drapes, there were spiders in the folds of the drapes. Access is down a treacherous hill. Anyone with any kind of walking or balance issue would not be able to access this property easily. We have rented thru VRBO for years and have never had a problem. We were so disappointed in this property that we considered going somewhere else. But then we would have lost the money we paid. And just to be clear, we did let the property manager know of these issues the day we arrived. All he said was that they try to give accurate descriptions of the property in the listing. Also, the internet was not working when we arrived. But it did come on the next morning. We learned a lesson in this process. Do not rent from Vacasa!
