We stayed 2 nights -the home was very comfortable for 3 couples the kitchen was recently remodeled and well supplied-the management company was amazing and very responsive- the door code didn’t work but management answered immediately and fave us a nWe code that worked instantly- very helpful

Relaxing and Peaceful

We were welcomed with soft music, lights and a cozy home. We found the home well equipped and very comfortable. We love the quiet location. Close enough to town and Donner Lake yet far enough away to have a peaceful environment. My daughter and I enjoyed yearly get away to this lovely home.

perfect getaway

House, amenities, location were excellent and as described in the listing.Because of previous negative reviews, I was hesitant to book this house due to lack of communication from the management company. I wasn't "disappointed". Upon our arrival, the cleaning person was still there as we were 15 minutes early. That worked out great as I asked him to wait and make sure the code we were given worked. It didn't, not sure why but it was a recurring issue brought up by previous renters. He called management and was given a default code to let us in. We used that code for the remainder of our stay.Everything went great from then on, until the 3rd day when we lost power around 8am.I checked all the breakers but everything looked normal so we called the management company and left a voice message asking "what's up"?I walked to the neighbor's house to find out it was a scheduled outage of one hour or so. If the neighbor new, how come we were not informed?Power was restored and everything went back to operational.We heard back from the management company via voicemail but (wait for it) not until 3 days later!?!?! What the heck!!!Lodging 5 starsmanagement 0 stars

Very bad experience with the property management company

The house was fine. It is cozy and has everything you need. It was great for our family. The property management company on the other hand, Grand Welcome, made it a really bad experience for us. We rented the property for 5 nights. On the first night when we arrived to the property the door code that was sent to us in email and via text did not work. We called the number several times and emailed them as well and got no response. Other renters had noted a similar experience in their reviews as well. We ended up having to book a hotel last minute about 4 miles away from the house for the first night. We finally got a hold of someone and received a new door lock code the next day that worked. We were in contact with the property management company on a daily basis afterwards regarding us not being able to access our rental on the first night. They rejected our request for a refund and we ended up having to eat the cost of the hotel room in addition to a rental that we were not able to access. This was really a terrible start to a long planned family vacation and ski trip. The remaining days were great, but it was really upsetting to find out the property management company, Grand Welcome, took no accountability for the door code not working or the fact that we were forced to find an alternative place to stay on our first night. Admittedly I should have contacted VRBO first. Lesson learned. I will avoid Grand Welcome managed properties in the future.

Decent house

It’s dated in spots, worn out in other spots but I won’t bash this property, For what I paid per day out the door, it’s not nice enough for that. I may stay again if I got it at half the cost.

Great location

Great location, amenaties should have been more clear, you have to pay for everything because you are a guest of the house. The back door does not have a lock that works and the grill was dirty. The property was perfect for what we needed and had plenty of kitchen ware.

Avg ski rental

It isn't fancy, but it isn't bad either. There were a number of home maintenance issues that should be addressed by management company, but nothing catastrophic. Table could use a few more chairs, the kitchen is a little sparse. On the plus, the garage is very large and easily accommodates two cars. It is in the heart of Tahoe Donner community - about 5' to ski base.

Good, but with some problems.

The property was clean and well appointed. The front path had not been shoveled and was icy/dangerous. However, the main problem was that the place was overpriced. We have rented larger (3 BR, 3 bath) places for the same amount. This was not a good value.

Charming and comfortable

Really sweet home, perfect for one family. We arrived after dark and the house was warm and some lights were on, which felt very cozy and welcoming. Plenty of space in the bedrooms and common areas. Great location. Two small suggestions: 1. it would be nice to have some board games, puzzles and books available. It would be fun but also will add a homier feeling to the property. 2. the 10am check-out time felt way too early. 11am is pretty standard and having to be out a whole hour earlier made our last morning rushed and stressful.

Nice stay

The house and location were great. The house was as advertised -- clean, comfortable; gas fireplace was easy to use; brightly lit interior; beds were comfortable; wi-fi worked well. The location was great (a close drive to the Tahoe Donner ski resort). No issues with the house. The reason this place gets 4 stars (maybe even 3) instead of 5 is the property management company (Grand Welcome). They were good with emailing details of payment received and how to check in -- but were unresponsive in all other communication. A few weeks prior to our stay, I asked about a check-out at 11am instead of 10am (both via text and email) -- and received a response that they would consider my request. A few days before my trip, I had not heard anything, so I reached out to them again -- their response was to "rest assured" that the request was being verified, and they will call or leave a message with an update. I never received a response to my request. Also, during the stay, it snowed. I wanted to clear a pathway from the entryway to the driveway, and also to dig out some of the snow from the front of my car. There was no snow shovel in the house, but it may have been in an outdoor locked closet on the front porch. I called the property management company to ask if there was a snow shovel available. The operator's response was that a shovel was available in the garage. This house has no garage. The operator then promised to investigate this and get back to me. I never received a response. If you're looking for a great house and location, this fits the bill. If you're looking for a responsive property management company, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Perfect size for a family of 4 but some issues with the management company

The house was as advertised and in a convenient location. The streets were well plowed during the snow storm and they had someone plow the driveway. The front and backyard areas were great for snow play. The kitchen was furnished with the minimum essentials but we were able to get by with no issues. As indicated in the welcome email, you need to bring everything you'll need for meal preparations (oil, spices, etc). There seemed to be issues with coordination between the call center and the "on site" team. There were a couple of inquiries such as the availability of dishwashing soap and what time the snow plow would come the day we had to check out that we never heard a response. Note: snow plow didn't come before checkout time so we had to shovel ourselves out. It was nice that they had a text option as well as phone for help but on the phone, always wait to speak to a representative since when we left a message to see if we could get an early check in, we never got a call back. The locks are on a timer to open with your code exactly at your check-in time so no chance to get in if you get there just 10 minutes early like we did. We had some concerns over cleanliness since there were several bowls in the cupboard with old food caked on them. We had to hand wash everything we used the first night until we could get to a store to get dishwashing liquid since it wasn't provided. We were also surprised when someone from the onsite staff came by to check on the heat (not by our request but from an inspection earlier that day) entered the home without a mask. The county at the time had an indoor mask policy so we were surprised it wasn't standard practice to wear a mask when entering the home. We had a power outage a couple of times during our stay but the gas fireplace kept us nice and toasty so it wasn't major issue. Initially I thought having a management company for rentals would be an advantage but the individual owners I've rented for in the past were more helpful and responsive. We usually don't have many needs but being able to get a definitive answer to our questions is helpful.

Great cabin and location

We loved this cabin and location. The cabin was clean, fully stocked and in a really nice neighborhood. Plenty of space and a really nice layout. The yard is pretty big and the neighbors are all really friendly. It's only a few minutes to the community lounge and a market and downtown Truckee with all it's shops and restaurants are near by. Most importantly, the wifi was great. My husband and I were able to work and use Zoom all day with no issues.

Great Stay - small improvements needed

Had a fantastic stay and was much bigger than expected, having 24-hour service was fanatic as we did have a small issue with the hot water on our first night but fixed it very quickly. I would highly recommend this property to anyone, but there are some updates to the property that I would recommend and people should be aware of. Security of front and back door needs to be improved, the front door is very week and at night we needed to use the chain as the main lock is weak. The back door only locks with a wood pole but pulled hard enough by anyone easy access can be gained. Also would recommend they re-painting the deck as multiple times paint would get stuck to hands or shoes.

Great Weather and great stay.

We had a very nice time and the cabin was perfect for our family of four. We were spoiled with the weather getting both sun for our ski days and snow for our play days. Would recommend this home and we hope to visit again in the near future.

Great stay for Tahoe access

We had a wonderful stay and the property perfectly matched our needs. The neighbourhood is lovely with great access to Truckee and the Northern and Central ski resorts. The house was clean and tidy and we found all the essentials we needed.

Lovely weekend house

Enjoyed our stay. The house is a bit tight for 6 people more suited for four. Very friendly neighbors they helped us get out in the snowstorm! Hot tub is far from the house. Had some delays hearing back from property manager about late checkout request had to call 2x. Overall nice home

Quiet get away at Tahoe Donner

The house was very clean and well prepared. It was such a relaxing place to spend a few days. The only problem was the back patio door. Needs to be replaced. Other than that I highly recommend this place and would love to come back again.

Last minute booking, great location

Booked cabin for last minute trip to snow. Great location, close to all that Tahoe Donner has to offer. Cabin was not cleaned at check in time, but the property manager was on scene and had a cleaning crew respond immediately. Other than the initial hiccup, very pleased with stay.

Great retreat

Beautiful, quiet, accessible neighborhood. Cabin was perfect size for 5 people with two full baths two bedrooms and a third bed in the corner of an open loft space. Cabin was clean and stocked with essentials for a long weekend. I would definitely stay here again. *I did not have any direct communication with the property manager via an exchange of emails/ph calls as I had no further questions; so I was unable to accurately rate that category.
