Excellent Property for a long Ski Weekend

Nice house, nice property, really well run. All around great. Big back yard for snow play and really easy location for truckee shopping and several ski areas.

Nice home in Truckee/Donner

We had an overall nice stay at this home, and it was perfect for access to Donner and downtown Truckee. The house itself was clean and the bathrooms were very nice! Some of the outdoor furniture was pretty worn down and could use a refresh for comfortable seating and the house overall smelled of smoke, but once we aired it out it was better, but not perfect.

A wonderful place for Spring Break

This was our second stay here for Spring Break. A nice cabin with separate entertainment areas (kiddos up stairs, adults downstairs) and plenty of room for getting food prepped and served. The highlight was probably the amount of space in the front yard for the kiddos to work on and build their snow fort for the kid/parent snowball fight. Because of the large/open windows facing the front, we were able to watch their construction unfold while cozy and warm inside. Communications with the owners was always easy and quick. Would recommend The Hideaway to all!

Lovely cabin but some cleaning issues

The cabin is well maintained and has everything you need. Unfortunately one of the beds was left with dirty blood stained sheets and there was pet hair on all of the bedding and floors despite being a no pets property. The helpline was efficient although when cleaner finally came on our second day they only changed one bed, floors remained “hairy”. The property manager hasn’t responded to my email. I doubt this problem will reoccur for others so I would recommend the cabin; I would love to hear from the property manager though.

Poor communication

Half of our party never actually made it up because of a winter storm. In our communication with the property managers leading up to the trip, they took a very long time to respond. I ended up calling and waiting on hold for 20+ minutes on 2 different occasions because they were so slow in email response and I never actually received responses to multiple of my queries. For those that made it up to the property for 1 of the 2 nights we booked, they were happy to find the driveway shoveled despite the storm. The dryer wasn't working and had damp towels left in it by previous renters. That meant there weren't enough towels for showers. There were also not enough kitchen towels. There was a fun arcade game at the property but it seemed like it required putting an endless supply of quarters in. They were not very helpful, as per their policy, with the fact that we couldn't drive up for 2 of the 3 nights and so we lost our money for those nights. Maybe if we had scheduled to go up on a weekend when it wasn't storming, the stay would have been better. But we couldn't really plan around that.

Needs some serious TLC and better property management

This house is in need of some attention. The bathrooms have been newly redone, which was great, but other parts of the house really need repair. The first issue we encountered was the code for the lock box code not working, which required a call to the property management company for the "back-up code." Although the interior doors in the house appear to have been recently replaced, whoever installed them did a terrible job. The door between the loft area and the bathroom did not close properly and other doors were similarly mis-hung. The wall rack in the mud room that's supposed to hold skis was not installed properly and had pulled out of the wall. The kitchen floor was installed so poorly that even the rug that attempts to hide the error can't cover it up, and the floor is lifting up in spots. The downstairs is VERY poorly lit - there are no ceiling lights and the few lamps that are there had 40 watt bulbs that made it impossible to read or play games at night. While the house was generally clean, the cleaners somehow forgot to clean the downstairs toilet - gross. When we called the property management company about the issues, they basically said they were totally backed up with house repairs, which essentially confirmed that no one is effectively monitorIng the state of the homes. It should not fully be up to the guests to report issues.

Cozy comfortable home

This three bedroom two bath home worked perfectly for our group of four adults and two children. The living room was very cozy with a gas fireplace. All the beds were comfortable . The bunk room included a trundle as well as the two bunks, which well for our little ones who were too small for the upper bunk. Both bathrooms have been recently renovated, and are very attractive. The kitchen was well appointed.

Second time staying - great place

Fantastic Family Cabin

This home fit two families of 4 very well. The bunk room is GREAT for the kids, and the added games around were a bonus. This home had everything we needed, including a quiet deck perfect for a Tahoe summer evening. We would highly recommend this cabin.

Quiet, well-equipped home

Excellent place to stay for 5 days. Clean, nicely furnished and comfortable. Located in a quiet neighborhood and close to outdoor activities. Just a few minutes from great trailheads and Donner lake. Lots of kid-friendly games in the home and in the garage. We didn’t have any kids, but enjoyed playing Pac-Man, ping-ping and basketball. We would stay again.

Truckee vacation home.

This house is so nice. Plenty of room yet with a cozy feel. The location is private with an easy drive to any Lake Tahoe beach. No regrets other than having to leave. We will return.
